Picking this little beauty up on Sunday....

The one on the right

To join our current duo... Winnie the Bulldog (nearly 2) had since a pup and Bentley the Shar-pei (4ish- no paperwork) had for a year now.

The French Bulldog is from a breeder where he was a stud, which is the same story with Bentley above. The Frenchie is 2, called Rhett at the moment (from Gone with the Wind apparently) and so we need a new name for a new start! He won't have ever been on a walk so won't know his name either.

I know we will have to see what suits him when we pick him up but any recommendations are welcome!

We can't wait it'll be so much fun getting another addition!

His colour is very unusual, what a cutie. He looks much chunkier than the french bulldogs I've met before. Do you know for a fact he has never been walked? There's no reason why stud dogs cannot be, the only excuse would be a lazy, unscrupulous breeder.

Yep afraid so, we've had 3 dogs from the same breeder now and it's the same story- they love them but they have so many to make a living from it they don't lead walk them but they do have space for exercise. The breeders are lovely people its just a different life to what i would do- i just want to look after all dogs i see!
The dogs are really well bred and arent bred from if problems are found. We only got involved with them through a charity for sharpei's with our first dog where they were given the dogs once they were retired- although it seemed odd for a charity to be involved with a breeder it was a way to ensure the homes they went to were vetted- if they said we don't agree with all this breeding they may end up anywhere.
We later bought the bulldog though as we had always wanted a bully but generally it was hard to get one from a charity and you never get bulldog puppies either. She is just the friendliest dog ever and gets on so well with Bentley!

Wow this is going on a bit sorry!

Turns out we can't get Rhett for 2 weeks now as we've been told he has had bladder stones- apparently common in small breeds. He has had crystals build up in his Urinary tract and has to have a special food for £60 per 15kg bag! Ouch! He has had to have a hole cut to wee from as when going out of his willy the crystals can build up- yuk! We're discussing it all through before we embark on it now as we previously had a sharpei that cost us £6k although we realise now the vets had no clue how to treat them.

If we do have him (which I think is pretty likely he would love the space and walks we have here) we've pretty much decided on a name with a bit of meaning. Pete!
I know a bit odd but we think he'll suit a blokey name! Its after my dad who had a severe stroke 2 yrs ago leaving him paralysed down one side and has really changed my parents life- he's only 57. Doughnuts and beer diet for 30 years didn't help mind. It happened 2 weeks after he retired from the police doing 60hrs a week when they moved from surrey to lincs.
Anyway I know he won't be around forever now and thought it would really make my parents happy for it to be named after him so I'm holding out telling him till its a dead cert. what's happened to him has really made us all appreciate the little things.

Thanks for reading sorry to ramble on!

Matt
