Firstly - SORRY; I am new at this stuff on PH. I have a 2007 V8 Vantage. THe battery has finally completly died and refuses to take any charge. I intend to replace it myself. I found a thread from Feb 2011 where bogie posted on how to remove the battery. All very simple except it starts with "power the drivers seat fully forward". No battery means no power for drivers seat - nor even for the release actuator to tilt it forward. I am guessing my only way out is to attach jump leads from another car and use that to power seat etc. Unless anybody has other ideas?

In the handbook (p3.5) for my Vantage is shows you how to tilt the seat forward using the manual release strap at the back of the seat. I think this only enables the seat back tilting forward, but at least that's a start for you.
I was at Costco today and the have Bosch S5013 batteries for the V8 Vantage at £107 inc VAT

Thanks - how dumb of me to not even look at manual. I am not sure it will get seat far enough fwd as the release bolts for the battery tray are quite inaccessible but i will give it a go. I wondered if i connect a battery charger it might give enough juice to power seat - again will try this. Thanks again - also re battery price. I have seen adverts for Varta 100AH battery (Varta G14) and Exide unit EA1000; but not seen Bosch before.

Use the jump start terminal under the bonnet to hook up another battery, then move the seat forward etc.

OK and thanks. So I have got the seat fwd and got access to battery, removed all access stuff and the two battery leads BUT..... Has anybody worked out how to remove the front most battery clamps? I can undo the screws so that the two clamps slide laterally across but they wont slide off the battery and ridge/valley they are in because on the outer (drivers side) edge there is a piece of fibreglass moulding that forms the basis of the side carpeting. I could drill a gap/hole but that is surely getting a bit extreme. Anybody done this before please?
