AM V12V Acquisition Advice Please
Discussion
Hello AM people. I usually am on the opposition threads but want my first taste of am AM. I am looking at a 62 reg AM V12V and would like to ask advice on the cars "must haves""must nots" on options etc. I am also very interested in what colours are good vs not. The one I am looking at is Ameythest Red and this is not a typical AM colour so views very much appreciated. Thank you!
Premium Audio is a must have IMHO as it's very good. The biggest choice, colour aside, is lightweight vs sports seats.
I went with lightweights as I think they suit the car much better but when I compared the two back to back the sports seats seem more comfortable due to extra padding. In reality lightweights are very comfortable but comparing back to back may not give the best impression - I'm very happy with the lightweight choice.
Colour is subjective - go with what you like best but if resale is important then get one in Grey
Pretty much most things are standard so it's mostly exterior & interior colour scheme where the variations will be

Evening FW, now I'm no expert on V12V but I do take a passing interest in any topic where they crop up, an upgrade one day I hope.. I think they are fairly well specced to start with apart from the audio if that's important, premium or beosound were options AFAIK. The other thing that people look for are the lightweight seats, never sat in one myself but I guess try both types and see what you prefer.
As for the colour, that is just down to personal preference. Amethyst is quite a rare colour, most are the usual grey/black/silver with a few white sprinkled in. Some of these rarer colours look good in the flesh though, and if you like it then that's all that matters.
Nice position to be in, happy hunting ( Hopefully one of the more learned of the clan will give their 2p worth soon )

If its the one at Stratstone of Wilmslow, I would say that it ticks all the boxes. ie., lightweight carbon backed seats, B&O and that lovely unique colour. I doubt this car will hang around long to be honest.
I believe it was previously for sale during the latter half of last year at Aston Sales of Kensington/Desmond Smail with mileage in a few hundred miles on the clock. It sold pretty quickly from memory, in a matter of days.
Best of luck (I wouldn't hang about). They really are that good.
Cheers Jon

Thank you everyone. Some excellent advice and support my desire for the car! It is the one at Wilmslow. I am off for a test drive in another V!2V this Friday and cannot wait. I also like the cars you guys run, especially the cab version of the V12V!!! Thank you. Will let you know if I close the deal.
The red car appears to have some considerable interest with 15 serious enquiries on it thus far.
The salesman we spoke to advised us that a deposit has been paid to hold the car until next Tuesday when the interested party arrives back from sunnier climes. Supposedly we will get a call if it fails to sell.
There seems to be a lack of nicely specced V12V's in the market at present in a colour other than black, grey or white. My father who is after the 12 is particularly keen on one with a colour to it and elected not to take the Magma Red car at Romans recently as it needed paint on the front end prior to the fitting of some stone chip protection which it lacked.

FW. I maintain the V12V Register (coupes) and afaik it's the only one being maintained.
I have around 600 unique entries and the Royal Amethyst (correct colour name) v12v at Wilmslow is the only one I have in that colour. Wilmslow had it for sale in July last year at mileage 821m.
I'm certain you would never struggle to sell it on if necessary.

The Amethyst Red one is stunning, one of, if not the best colour I've seen a V12V in.
Kiss of death I'm afraid if George likes it! Something is wrong, very wrong!Ahhh, now I have it! I know why George likes the colour:
PS : Im just joking with George here, I actually really love the colour too on the V12V and it is a very nice spec car - lightweight seats, B&O, Garmin Nav, Front park sensors, Piano Trim. Pretty much fully loaded, go for it!

Done it!! Taken the plunge and bought the V12V. Pick it up end of next week. Colour is unusual for an AM but looks great. Test drive was great and the car is well loaded so very happy. Thanks for all the views and advice!
Congratulations - it will be a fantastic car and looking forward to seeing pictures of it once you pick it up.FalconWood said:
