Probably being an over protective owner/servant but Chase pictured below has a really gunky eye on coming home this evening. It doesn't seem to be bothering her too much. She isn't fussing at it and isn't acting any differently.

Do we leave it to work itself out? Take her to vets? Leave it a day or so and see? Any advice sensible or stupid welcome

I'm amazed you even need to ask.

If that were my cat, vet tomorrow morning, no question about it.

One of ours had a gunky eye recently with him struggling to open it at times, a trip to the vet for him to diagnose conjunctivitis.

Could be conjunctivitis that may resolve itself with bathing but could be the beginnings of an ulcer.

There shouldn't be any messing when it comes to eyes though. I would have to advise an appointment with your vet today.

Could be conjunctivitis, could be a grass seed

Vets, ASAP IMHO just incase it's a grass seed

Conjunctivitis wins the day. Went to vet this morning she has managed to scratch the eye slightly either through fighting or just a random branch in a bush. We have some eye drops (acular) and some gel (clinagel) to apply for a week.

Thanks for the advice.

My cat Isy, who looks like your cat, looked a bit like that after she got bashed by our other cat Ryu. Vet checked her over but no treatment other than an eye wash out. Swelling went down rapidly within 24 hours.

We do wonder if it was inflicted by her sister. They scrap quite often. She is fine in herself. The eye still looks sore currently the hardest task is getting the drops and gel in her eye!

It must be the week for tabbies with gunky eyes... My boy had a gunky eye for a few days, not swollen though. Vet thought he had been thumped in the eye by his sister. Three days of eye drops and he's as good as new.

Gratuitous pic smile
