I'm looking for somewhere to stay for the night approx 2 hours drive from Calais. I'm not doing my usual route towards Reims but heading up to Dunkirk and through Lille, Tournai, Mons and towards Namur - so somewhere en route is needed. Needs to be near the autoroute and have parking, anyone have any recommendations?

That's a route I drive a lot - continuing on to Luxembourg where I live. (Which is only another 1h10m south, btw)

If your finishing point is Namur, 2h from Calais will get you there, and the town's right next to the E411 autoroute in a river valley below.

1hr 15 from Calais is Ypres (called leper now). The hotel below fulfills your other requirements and the town in general is worth a vist as is the Menin Gate ceremony each evening.

Ypres in French, Ieper in Flemish wink

Said as "Wipers" by the WWI troops.

Thanks for the advice, I'm driving down from Lancs and aiming to get the eurotunnel around 1-2pm and then trying to get a couple of hours into Belgium/Luxembourg so will check out your suggestions.

Cheers for that wondered why the road signs all say Leper that explains it.
