Hello you lot.

We're off to Orlando for 2 weeks in June, staying in a rented villa thing near the Disney resorts. Little one will explode, I'm sure.

Whilst getting away from the internet sounds ideal, I do need it to keep on top of work and incase any work-related issues arrise. So; is there a solution to this? Is there a dongle-thing that I can buy while over there to satisfy my needs, or should I change from a villa to a hotel?

Cheers,
al

You are on holiday - anything work-related should be dealt with by others during your break.

If you really can't take the time off properly, nip into McDonalds etc for a coffee and use their wifi.

Enjoy your holiday - the kids will enjoy it better if you are relaxing with them, too.

We're a two-man team, and it's the wife and I - so when we are on holiday there isn't anyone else to look after things.

It's not ideal, but it means that the rest of the year our lifestyle is really nice smile

Do you know for sure the villa doesn't have internet access? Many do.

I'm not sure, but I don't want to count on it and then be stuck. smile
Our holiday people won't guarantee it.

McDonalds, Starbucks and possibly some Subways are likely to be your best bet I would imagine.

Disney have free wifi in the parks!

As before, lots of places provide free wifi, just have to buy a coffee

you wont find it hard to find free wifi, not only the common places mentioned above, but malls, department stores, and plenty of other places have free wifi, some areas also have municipal wifi you can subscribe to as a tourist, all else fails, walmart sell myfi boxes and dongles, not sure if you would need a us address and card for their subscriptions though

what about taking an unlocked Mifi device with you and buying a PAYG data sim over there?

I would be very surprised if you cannot pick up at least one wi-fi connection from your rented accomodation. As well as my own I can pick up at least three others from my house out there. It seems that most people dont bother in passwording it out there for some reason. Perhaps it`s too much bother informing renters of password. Open to all!!!

As a last resort you could use the WiFi at a Barnes & Noble book store. They have a cafe which is always quiet and you could buy a coffee and a bun and sit there in peace for an hour or so.

Store List

Been going to FL for years and rented villas directly with the owner and have not come across a villa without internet access for at least 6 years. One did have it with no WiFi but I took a small router with me to sort that out. So you may be just fine as the internet is supplied along with the cable TV and it is seen as a must have for villa owners.
