Carbon Parts from China
Discussion
HI All, Be very very careful when ordering from OYA, i would suggest DONT USE THEM....
6 weeks ago after reading through this forum I decided to order CF Bonnet, Air brake (spoiler) & side vents for my Mclaren MP4 12C...
I thought I should share my experience.... not the best!
Everything arrived two weeks late, after they emailed me three times asking for extra payments for shipping, building a woods box for transport and bank transfer fees, the price invoiced was $4200usd and after the third email had gone up $240usd.
After waiting impatiently i received the parts, Side blades where fine, Spoiler was borderline, however, the bonnet ($1,500USD) was extremely poor quality. It arrived with 4 small dents, dry marks in the clear coat and two major indents, completely unusable.
I sent Sandy and Wendy at Oya Carbon pics of the defect, Sandy replied with... Hi Dean,
our production manager got this question, it was caused at the mould process. it is our carelessness. In future we shall pay close attention to it. It don't influence the fitting, when you fit on, all is okay, right? If you return it, it will cause the freight cost and tax cost, so we consider to give you the discount for this product on your next order, is that ok to you? please advise your comments...
I thought after admitting its there fault and being a somewhat reputable company they would just replace it, or give me credit... I was sorely mistaken, I was expecting to have to pay freight again and was prepared for the hit, however, 10 or so days / emails later, after starting at 10% then 40% then 50% discount on my next order they refuse to just credit the price or replace it! so im $1500usd + $1200usd freight in the hole!!!
They have now stopped replying to my emails...

OYA Carbon will not accept a credit card, they insist on bank transfer only with the order.
I had some DBS front splitters from them that did not fit without modification.
I think they are used to the Chinese way of production, cheap and cheerful with a discount if they mess up. I would not use them again either.

I understand the issue here regarding the bonnet quality, but come on, who orders a knock off part for a McLaren to start with and even worse a part that is so integral to the appearance of the car? I bet the original part is at least 10x the price from OYA so what can you really expect. It's also very hard in these situations to give a full refund as the parts cost so much in shipping etc, it doesn't make sense. I'm sure the bonnet can be sold for at least 70% of what was paid to a race team or racer and with a 40% discount on the next one, you'll be quids in.
I'm placing an order soon for some AM parts (not a bonnet) , if anyone wants to split delivery in the London area?

Ordered my parts today. Seems like a very easy company to deal with. Hopefully the order will be complete and ready to ship within 20 days.
Ordered
Diffuser
splitter
Strakes
Rear light inserts
Not sure I'll like the strakes and inserts, but due to the delivery cost I figured they'll be pretty easy to sell on if I don't like them. All that for £918 inc delivery.
