Hi Guy's,
I have inherited a 'kitcar' (self-build) and would like to know where I can get the engine specs from an engine number on the 2.0L pinto engine? I believe it's from a granada circa 1983. Need to know the BHP/kW at revs etc for the IVA test.
Numbers on block: 70HM6015BA & G87742

They're idiots.

There was never a 2490cc Pinto

You are of course correct, but if the car has a normal (rather than Q) reg plate can the plate not come from the "donor vehicle" and the donor vehicle does not necessarily need to donate the engine.

Just a thought.

DVLA are well known for idiotic mistakes.

But I presume someone would have actually told them the engine size to put on the paperwork ?
I don't think they make stuff up ?

But there is no way that a pinto engine number could ever genuinely relate to a 2.5, unless a previous owner has made some strange declaration on the same engine number

Thankyou v much for ideas! Yes they make loads of errors, first one was they thought it could have been an Import!!!!!
No mention by me that it was imported or anything. There is no donor vehicle as it is made from various parts, new and old. Ford engine and gearbox, Cortina diff, caterham parts and westfield parts, ebay many bits!!
Much I have made myself though so is a 'one off' seven style bodywork etc.
IVA and MOT I had done and no mention about the engine maybe being 2.5L
From the standard carb, it's a 2l. On the block it says: 2.0 which is a 2 litre!
Took from May 2014 until now to get all this done! Winters around the corner so fitting a windscreen and heater!
