This is the closest match I could get to mine, as this is an Sdrive 35is and mines a 28i and mine doesnt have red seats but I am thinking of painting them black at some point.

Thanks, it's the same colour as the real "J" car and seems to be quite rare at the moment. Waiting for the Aventador 50 Anniversary in the right colour now!

I joined the modelling site you mentioned by the way.

Do Ikea still do the Detolf case, I thought they'd stopped it? They look better with the black tops and bottoms.

Hi SAB, yes I noticed your posts over on DX. It's a good forum (and lets one indulge in one's model car geekery!).

Indeed, Ikea still make the Detolf. I purchased the most recent one a couple of weeks back (still £40). The advantage of these is the potential to add new shelves (which I intend to do in the near future). The additional light also looks good too.

I have 2 of those now. First one was pre-ordered for 6 weeks or something silly before it turned up.

Got the first one, took it out checkd it. Put I away. Dad asked to see it, I took it out showed him. Put it back in the polystyrene. Put it back in the red box. then realised I hadn't put the base in the slot of the polystyrene. So whilst standing up (WHY?!?) slid it out a bit and tried to slide the base under. Slipped. The car made a bid for freedom. Hit the coffee table on the way down! Never dropped a model in my life! Purely my fault.






GT Spirit offered to send a new rear spoiler. I gratefully accepted. They sent a front splitter. I still thanked them over the email, but didn't have the heart to tell them the mistake.

Got a second via ebay a couple days later.

Not sure what I can do with the broken one though. As you can see I've collected up the broken parts. Guess it's not worth anything to anyone. But seems a shame to throw it away.

Ouch. You'd probably be surprised that there is a market for damaged models, especially on eBay.

Someone will buy it and modify it so the damage won't be so important to them. I've got over 180 1:18 models and i've damaged one or two over the years, always managed to get a few quid back on eBay selling the damaged ones.

You pre-ordered the orange BMW 1M from GT Spirit? I've got the blue RS4 Avant coming from GT Spirit in the next few days hopefully then the 1M around this time next month.
