I am going to be in London at the end of May and I have to get my wife and 14 month old child to Canary Wharf. We are over for a while and so will have 3 large cases, a pram and a car seat with us. I would like suggestions on booking a suitable taxi/car service to get us to our hotel. I don't think a black cab will do it and I know my wife will not allow the child to be in a car with out a car seat. I guess budget would be up to 50 pounds but if that is unreasonable let me know and I will just have to suck it up and ay more.

I'm not sure if it's changed, but years ago it was something like £30 just to leave the airport in a black-cab (IIRC!) so I would definitely arrange a mini-cab to meet you there, rather than just grab a black cab when you arrive

Black cab was £50 minimum last time I took one. But OP doesn't want one.

That journey would be £80 in a black cab.

Addison Lee are worth a shout. They are much more competitive on longer journeys....short stuff they cost more than black cabs!

They are coming out to more than I expected at 114 pounds. Others look closer to 60.

Honestly, just use London2Airports at £45. I use them all the time and they are reliable.

Done. 60 pounds including child seat. A bargain 5 pound charge for paying by credit card but still a good price.

Thank you everyone.

Now, what about Lisbon? Anyone any ideas for there? Same criteria as I hope to have no mislaid my son by then. We are only going to Lisbon for a couple of days to avoid Tony Blair's Throttle the economy by charging excessive leaving the country tax. So it works out cheaper to fly to Lisbon and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights then fly out of Lisbon back to the US.

No wonder he's just been able to sell a majority stake for £300 million if that's how much they charge.

Just done a quote online for these guys and they come out cheaper than the minicabs I'm using at the moment. Might switch.
Are the cars decent (i.e. not Primera death traps), and the drivers respectable?
