Hi,

Landlady turns 40 this year. I told her I'd like to take her away for a weekend/long weekend and she decided on Italy as her venue of choice.

The remit basically is; somewhere with the best chance of "decent" weather (bear in mind we're talking late October). Obviously I'm not expecting high 20s but dry and about 15-18 degrees C. Somewhere with a smattering of cultural attractions but that's not that important. The biggest request (read: essential) will be a lovely hotel (but not so much that you feel awkward - if you know what I mean. Boutique style would be nice) and lots of places to sit and eat wine and drink cheese and meats whilst people watching. Also not somewhere that'll take a day to get too seeing as we're talking only a long weekend in total.

Budget all-in is absolute max £2,000 but it'd be much, much better if it were nearer £1,000 - this to include spending money.

I can guarantee that this place will meet every expectation. The two sisters that run this place are fantastic and the little town of Asolo is stunning. It has everything you are looking for.

Can't guarantee the weather but you have a good chance of it being ok. Fly to Venice Marco Polo....easy.

If you want the best chance of warm I'd recommend as far south as possible, and looking at somewhere like Taormina in Sicily.

Seconded. Weather will be in 20s, sea will be warm enough for swimming. Booking.com will give you your hotels.

I'm off to Rome and then staying on the coast in Marmorata early October. I'm hoping the weather will be nice low 20's.

There is loads to do around there from what I can see.
