I'm off to Italy!

Hello everyone,

I am going to Rome for two days and then onto the Amalfi Coast for 5 days. We are driving from Rome and so will have a car.

Can anyone give me some tips on places to go whilst we can travel around. We both like history, culture, architecture, design.

Spot on re the Garden Restaurant. Have a beer or two in the main square, and maybe enjoy an Irish wedding going on. Enjoy the drive up to Ravello from Amalfi, and be aware that the traffic lights en route really do change on about a 5 minute cycle! Ignore to your peril!

Sorrento is a nice enough place, but if history is your thing, it's worth going to Pompeii and Herculaneum.

In Rome itself, the Colleseum is a must do, but wondering around the city is very pleasant. The of course there is St Peters in the Vatican.

I doubt you'll be short of things to do...
