Back on the hunt for *real* CSL wheels!
This post has no doubt just saved me £800....enquired a little more only to find out that the wheels i had stupidly ordered were from the same guy / company. Just had a conversation with the owner who was trying to convince me that the wheels were from BBS but not stamped on the back.

As people have previously pointed out - you get what you pay for!!

Hope you didn't pay for them yet. And just for Google's benefit - it's Wheel Doctor on Ebay

They did have a problem last year, while waiting for the TUV approval process with the new batch of CS7, which meant I had to wait almost 6 months for the next batch of wheels to be made to arrive in stock. But, if the wheels are in stock in the USA, then you're looking at about 3 weeks from payment to getting the wheels, as once I got an email from them to say they were in, that's how long it took for me to get them in my hand.
For only another 150 quid I'd rather have the Alufelgen tbh, much nicer, and likely lighter too, not keen on those 3SDM 001 wheels....but I suppose that depends on what you're looking for.
How much customs tax did you pay?
It's not one figure. Costs are made up of various sums.....It's the UK don't forget laugh

I can give what mine came to, but remember I was buying 18" CS7's, so wheel price and shipping may be more if you are buying 19" SF-71's (given they weight a few pounds more each, and shipping also depends on what you nearest International UK airport is)

Anyway, for mine last year...

Aluflegen CS7 wheels (18x8 ET45 front, and 18x9 ET48 rear) were US$900 + US$270 for shipping to Heathrow airport (my nearest to postcode)
No point in giving you what that was in GB£ when I bought them because of the fluctuating exchange rates.
Alufelgen will price the shipping to your nearest International airport to your postcode.

UK customs duty was GB£32.45.
VAT was GB£171.72.

These two costs are a percentage of the US$1170 costs, so again will be dependant on shipping cost and exchange rate on the day of arrival into UK.

UK customs clearance fee was GB£55 which should be a fixed fee, and then there was a UK shipping agent fee of GB£22 and an airline handling fee of GB£40, which again will be both dependant on which airline is used to your nearest airport and which agent etc.
That a grand total of GB£320.17 to add to the original cost of wheels + shipping.

Given mine came into Heathrow, which will be the most expensive UK airport for charges, you could possibly see that figure being less for you if Heathrow isn't your nearest. I know around the same time as I got mine, a bloke on a BMW forum ordered a set of the 19" SF-71 from Alufelgen, and his charges came to about 50 quid less than mine because he lived up in the north somewhere, so lower airport charges etc.

I've got Aluflegen CS7 on my car, mine were bought 2nd hand, but they still looks fab.

I understand the concern about cheap replicas, but BMW's OEM 19inch wheels aren't exactly bomb proof smile

If that's a pic of your car, they are SF-71 not CS7 wink

Another update - Decided to go with Z Performance wheels. http://www.z-performance.com/ A company not really known in the UK, but across europe. Their wheels are TUV approved and excellent quality. Will be driving up to Vienna to pick up a set this weekend! Although I am stuck between these (The classic take on the CSL):-

Or these:

I like them a lot too, but they are a bit common with all the cheapo repo's from China. I like being a bit different, plus they are a good take on the similar wheel design for the E93. My only concern is how the lacquer holds up on the bolts, although they are not split rim, they still have the downsides of the bolts!

Both designs look great. The second set reminds me of Racing Dynamics' designs, but with the benefit of concave spokes.

Just clocked this.... had also considered 'genuine wheels' advertised by wheeldoctor but will avoid now.

Yes, unfortunately if you have an E9X series, I've found out that the M3 CSL wheels on the E46 are the wrong offset, so you need to run spacers, which for me is not an option. So I've been looking for decent CSL style wheels which are made properly. The options are very limited in the UK, with lots of options in the US, as it's more popular.

However in Europe a few companies are doing it, and I'll be visiting one very soon, so will post up the pics/findings. I've also spoken to a supplier in the UK when I was looking and asked why they were not resellers for these companies, and they told me they would investigate. Potentially more options on the horizon. The only wheels I'm looking at have to be TUV approved. Cheers
