monaro electric seat fault

I think this has been asked before but cannot find a thread link.

2005 6.0 VXR Monaro

Drivers electric seat goes forward and back as normal and base tilt works okay. However seat back will not recline, seat back button does nothing.

Also the seat doesnt go forward automaticaly when seat tilted. Also side button doesnt slide seat back to position.

Have tried disconnecting battery for 1 hr to reset but no change.

Any ideas please. There is a control unit under drivers seat ? Or can it be faulty elec contacts on seat

I have an intermittent fault on my memory button. I don't think the switches and buttons are the world's finest quality. It might be worth seeing if you can unplug the connectors and plug them back in again (the Microsoft cure for all problems )

Somebody suggested spraying contact cleaner on them. The module is just a rectangular box, in fact, mine's on my desk, hold on, I'll get a picture.

Couple of screws hold it together, shouldn't be a tough job.

its either a dirty switch or the motor in the back of the seat is gone, both are easy enough to access once the set is out.

As I'm sure you know, if you take the seat out, leave the battery disconnected for a while before doing so, you don't want an airbag light tripping.

My driver's side seat doesn't fold forward either

James mail was rejected by your server to big apparently, it was the section from the workshop manual on the seats.

Mine stopped working and during a interior cleaning session, i leant over the drivers seat putting a bit of weight on it, heard a click and hey presto it worked again. Worth a shot!

have had seat taken out, checked and cleaned all connectors, all okay but seat backrest will still not recline or auto slide fwd when tilted, but seat base works fwd and back and tilts okay

any thoughts please

The motor could be burnt out.

The service manuals do talk about the seat controller having its own built in diagnostic system, and can report fault codes through a series of flashes of the green light etc. once put into the right mode.

I have the manuals available if you want them (might have sent them to you already?)

How did you go with this? I have a VZ HSV GTO and am having the same problem.
