i am waiting until they hit about £60k in a few years time
I fear your grandchildren might be waiting for this price! It's funny how the SC courts so much debate. It can be argued it is a dressed up GTS but that is wrong. It is it's own model from top to toe and all the points have been made on that front. I am pretty sure that anyone buying this car is doing so for the sheer pleasure of ownership - residuals are unlikely to have been a contributing factor towards purchase. Is it an investment vehicle? - doubt it. Is it an investment in aesthetic and motoring satisfaction - yes. The car just works. It set out to showcase the abilities of Porsche Exclusive and it did just that.
If looked at as merely a beautiful example of a 911 then surely Porsche achieved their aim? It's price affects only those in the market for one and if they disagree with it they are not in the market. I just think it's a great car. A truly wonderful looking 911 with presence and poise. That's all. I don't suppose it was ever in line to be a collectors car and don't think it was ever manufactured to be.
Well I have to admit, I have admired Giggle's car when parked up at the gym (sorry if there was a small pool of saliva next to it after! ) and it is a beautiful piece of machinery, dare I say almost 'art'.
As a GTS owner, the spec sheet doesn't stack up with the price they fetch, but when you see one in the flesh it starts to make more sense.

Exactly Mr Tickle - they make sense in the flesh! On paper they seem just a collection of parts, unique or otherwise. It's an emotional car - makes you feel something. Makes me feel great! As a GTS owner, the spec sheet doesn't stack up with the price they fetch, but when you see one in the flesh it starts to make more sense.

Yes I agree. Rarity is on its side however I don't really understand the appeal or like the looks especially that brown interior but then its all personal I guess
Does anyone remember the 996 Millennium? I had one of these parts bin specials a few years ago. Limited to 911 cars worldwide, cost more than a turbo when new but was basically a 996 Carrera 4 with a novel interior (dark wooden trim), flash chromed wheels (which flaked and couldn't be repaired) and a flip paint (cost £1200 per litre if you needed any repairs). All the luxury goods (sat nav, memory seats, leather everything including the phone) and a sports suspension made for a compromised product. When I sold it I got no premium over a standard C4 of similar age, mileage and condition, despite the little plaque on the dash.
Not all special editions are that special, Porsche have known that and traded on 'exclusivity' when it suited them for a long time.
