Nice Elise, I am thinking about getting a hardtop for mine imo it looks alot nicer. Having the roof off is fun but i can take it or leave it really. Looking at your previous cars, I have had a Trophy and a few Gti's as well. Nearly got a Clio 200, but got the Elise instead

Well spotted eagle eyes. It is still a work in progress as that picture shows red bolts and it looks shocking. The standard silver look good and the new gold bolts i have bought look good too.

Thanks - Having spent the majority of my driving life in various hot hatches I felt it was the right time to try a proper sports car, I sold my M135i which was the consummate all rounder but ultimately I was bored of it after 18 months. Now I have a Mk5 Golf TDI for the boring stuff, which it does very well being exceedingly boring, and the Elise to enjoy driving... It's working well so far as the Lotus feels really special after a few days in the old beater.

When I was looking a hard top was a real priority, I really wanted an Elise having driven an S1 way back and loved it but I'm just not a soft top / roof off kind of guy, and I agree with you also that the car looks much nicer with the hard top in place. Really tidies up the lines in my opinion.

I notice you've owned a VXT too, I was considering one instead of the Elise but the Lotus was the right car at the right time - How does your 111R compare to the VXT?

Great shot! the picture is very suggestive and clear where and what the car has been doing.

It was about 6 years ago when I had my VXT and I only had it 6 weeks before I crashed it.. So a bit hard to compare. But I will do my best. Overall I think the Elise is a better car.

VXT was faster but it was remapped so slightly unfair
Elise handles better/ better made/ feels a nicer place to be.

So I don't take this thread off track here is a pic from a drive out a few weeks ago
