I did buy a nardi sti wheel but it just won't fit, anyone know which Sti wheel is a straight fit?
Thanks very much

The V3 sti came with this steering wheel..

It was also fitted to the 22b. Good luck finding one.

This will also fit. it was for the earlier v1 and v2 sti looks similar but doesn't have the carbon STI badge in the centre..

The Nardi is the correct wheel. I'm guessing when somebody changed to the air bag wheel they used the column from that wheel. This might help http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t52693-diy-version...

However if it was me I'd want the air bag as you never know when you'll need it smile

Therefore if the wheel is already wired up I'd be tempted to buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-1998-Stee...

Tbh, id be suprised if the whole thing was wired up properly. If your not getting a airbag light then it should be functioning properly, and id rather have no airbag then one that could fire randomly.

If you want to take it back to standard you could use the time to upgrade and the the optional STi quick steering rack. With that you can use the Nardi and have it back to OEM

Getting a good nardi is a bit of a pain. If you need any bits, I can see if i can find anything down here as its a bit easier tongue out. I just bought a second handd STI carbon horn press for about 10quid from a car breakers for my spare wheel.

Thanks for all the replies, the steering wheel is standard, the car was imported to the uk from new and had this steering wheel and uk spec lights when it left the factory.
I have a nardi v3 sti steering wheel but it won't fit with my clock spring and even then I don't think it sits far enough on.
At least it's rare as hell to have this wheel!
I would love to know more about this sti option quick rack?
I think the easy option is to go for the normal momo airbag wheel as already said, I think I'm just going to go for a nice rally wheel and be done of it, I have seen an awesome prodrive wheel on prodrive Japan biggrin
Just out of interest what would I need to change to fit my nardi sti wheel?
The guy offered me all the gubbins when I bought the sti wheel but like a tit, I said I didn't need it frown
Not liking the uk wheel at all!

And I didn't have an airbag light on but since I removed it all to try and fit the nardi the sodding light stays on frown

Lol yeah I saw that after, It doesn't seem to hard, not to keen on sticking two spacers together, but it certainly is an option!
Do you know if the 97 and after had the momo airbag wheel with red stitching or was that for the bug eyes? I believe these will fit but the airbag module is different!
How many different columns are there? Is my column the same as say a uk 2000?
Thanks for all the input smile

JDM Version 4-6 had airbag Momo wheels with redstitching. The v4 had a different style of centre, and MAY be more similar that the V5-6

Version 4

Before

After

Does look much better but the sodding airbag connectors are different!
Anyone unscrewed the airbag off its cover?
Could I swap them around with out blowing my head off?
May end up just putting a resistor in and not connecting it back up frown
Still I'm happier with the way it looks and feels biggrin

The wheel you had was the same as a uk Forester steering wheel. I know, as I had one and swapped it out for a version5 momo.

My version 4 TypeR was also imported brand new and sold by a uk dealer, but had the correct v4 wheel.

It could just be that the SvA in 98 needed the car to have an airbag wheel.
So they chucked on what was available.

Thanks for the info, there is a 555 on eBay at the min with the same wheel! Much happier with the momo, but I'm determined to get the nardi on at some point by following the instructions above!

Have you got some more pics of your car as i'm quite confused. Why would someone fit and wire in an airbag steering wheel. Does it have uk clocks fitted now?

If you want to revert back to original spec i have the stalks and clockspring (you can see it behind the steering wheel in my pic).

Johnny.

Hi mate, what pics would you like? I have a thread in readers rides with a few pics in! As I say, it's not the only car I have seen with a uk wheel, my car was ordered from Japan from new for a uk customer, that's all I can think of. It's a bit strange, PM your details if you would sell the stuff to fit the nardi, cheers smile

here's a link to more info on my car!
