Penichette rental ?

Anyone here rented a penichette and "sailed" themselves through a French river / canal ?

Any hints or tips for a complete sailing "virgin" so to speak ??

I guess from a "what to take" perspective it's similar to camping ??

We're off on Thursday down the Canal du Midi (apparently !)
