Tenerife - Advise please

Hi guys
We want to go to Tenerife for 5 day 30th May - 4 June, but where??
We have never been before and this is our criteria:
- Pretty
- Not lager lout territorie, we are both in our 20s but just not into it.
- Plenty to see and do, we will be hiring a car though
Basically, where would PH go?

Costa Del Silencio: French and German timeshare hell, Las Americas: the touristy bit, Golf del Sur & San Blas: much quieter from a tourist point of view, but a plane spotter's delight, if ever you read about a plane crashing into a block of flats in Tenerife, it'll be in San Blas. Bus travel is easy, with prepaid tickets available just about everywhere, stay in an apartment the 'Golf' (Green Park, Winter Gardens) or San Blas (Golf Plaza, Las Adelfas)and bus out to the touristy bits and save yourself a fortune.
Los Cristianos is worth a look if on a budget, not very larger loutish and cheaper than Costa Adeje but a short walk to hooters if tempted, plus a good sea fishing spot.
One place worth visiting is Otelo up in Adeje, small town up in the mountains not Costa Adeje, go mid morning and do the Barranco del Infierno (Hell's Gorge) loop trail and then to Otelo's for lunch. Amazing chicken, mojo spuds, house wine and a pretty spectacular view.

La Gomera or La Palma would be perfect but alas budget will not stretch, we are saving for a blow out holiday to Tokyo at the end of the year.
If you want a reasonably quiet area of Tenerife with lots of local character and charm have a look at Puerto de la Cruz. The area is full of original Canarian buildings and restaurants, there is very little crime and the locals are very friendly. We've been here many times over the past 15 years, usually stay at the Casablanca Appts. There is a nice beach just out of town at Punta Brava, only downside is it's about an hour drive from the airport.
Had a week in Los Gigantes in April last year. We found it good for eating and watching the sun set over the Atlantic. It has a small harbour with boat trips available and an uncrowned black beach. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, so it gets my vote.

There's nothing wrong with Tenerife. I can only assume some people go to a resort and never venture outside it.
It's better than Gran Canaria, to my mind, which is an island full of mountains fringed with some crappy Spanish towns filled with Germans.
I would concur with Costa Adeje but get a hire car and drive up through the Mount Teide national park which is truly spectacular in terms of landscape and native birdlife including canaries.
Continue on to Loro Parque for a good day out at a nice zoo replete with Killer Whales. Also, take time to follow the winding road to Masca and Buenavista.
Wasn't fussed on Los Gigantes, TBH, though it was coloured by a sea trip that would make the most hardened mariner chunder their guts up.
By contrast, Fuerteventura is very rural indeed and Lanzarote, while I do see the attraction, gets samey quite quickly, if you like to explore.
