As usual, search not really helping. We're going to Las Vegas next April and my sister wants to visit the Grand Canyon. We've done it before in a plane flight day trip but they want a bit longer to ride horses on the rim, etc.

Any recommended tours people have been on? They will only be in LV for 5 days, so max 2 day trip to the GC and definitely fly.

Most of the flights aren't to the 'real' Grand Canyon as they aren't allowed into the National Park area.

There is an airport near the South Rim (the good bit) that you can fly into to save on the drive.

For a road-trip I can recommend http://www.grand-adventures.com/

Try Sundance Helicopter tours..they do loads of different trips. Fly down into the Canyon then boat back all sorts of things. A year ahead is a long time and things change constantly..try www.tripadvisor.com and search on that. They have some pretty good reviews. I just used Sundance and they where really good. But there is so much to do..i would recommend using Vegas as your base and then drive up through the country. The only point i must mention is that in April not all the roads around the Canyon are open. Most actually don't open until early May. Last week they had 4 foot of snow fall and it delayed the opening of the south rim road. If you have time..go to "BODIE" its just outside of Yosemite and between there and Vegas..its on the Vegas side..its an old Ghost Town way up in the mountains.

For anyone wanting to drive the North Rim of the Grand Canyon it doesn't open till the 15th May due to snow.
