What a load of bks for the original speeding offence. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing 120 there it's clear and a dual carriageway. A modern 1000 would only be in 2nd gear at that speed. Looks to me like its more a case of some wker speed camera van hiding out of view to catch people who are riding well within the safe limits of the road.

Really!? Just because the bike (or car) can 'safely' do 120mph, it doesn't mean there is 'nothing wrong' with doing so! It IS wrong to do it but you are calculating the risk of getting caught or having an accident.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not saying I never speed, just that when I choose to I know it's wrong and I'm never under the belief that there is 'absolutely nothing wrong' with doing so.

It's not really the speeding that got him into trouble is it ? The problem for him was that he lied and then broke the "11th Commandment", Thou shalt not get found out.

I couldn't see any danger whatsoever from that video. I stand by that there is nothing wrong with doing that speed in that situation. Not endangering anyone.

the sentence is more to do with his actions after, not the original offence. He's not going to prison for doing 120, he's going because he's lied and bragged on the internet.

Well I hit 152mph in an Aston Martin Rapide today and then slowed down to a steady 100mph and took my hands off the steering wheel for four miles. And I saw loads of police vehicles holed up, but not one even bothered to stop me.

Really enjoyed Millbrook today. And the new Rapide S is fantastic by the way. For Sale: Range Rover. Black. Drug dealers need not apply

Not you personally, but your response is typical on the speeding threads, usually with they do in Germany etc etc...... Perfectly safe etc etc. 200 mph could be safe on any given stretch, blah blah blah.

The law disagrees with you, that's my point. You said that there was "absolutely nothing wrong" with going that speed. My point is that there IS something wrong (breaking the law) but we all (most of us) do it because its fun but at least acknowledge that it is wrong and that you're taking a calculated risk.

The guy's a muppet but tell me why us hard pressed tax payers have to pay for his food and accommodation for 8 months - how can that make any sense .Just fine him ,ban him, take away his bike and get him to pay for the court and police time wasted . At least he would still have a job and the state could waste the money saved on a more deserving cause .

That's what would have happened had he just owned up to the offence. Perverting the course of justice is why he's inside. That's a very serious offence (rightly - as it undermines the basis of a democratic law abiding society) . Just ask Chris Huhne!

By all means break the limit where it's safe to do so, but be willing to be honest and take the consequences if caught.
