Mains electric fence energisers
Discussion
Does anybody have any experience with some of the cheaper mains fence energisers?
Need something to power about 25m of poultry netting, and possibly around 100m of single wire trace, to try and keep our raptors safe from the evil ginger marauders.
I was looking at something like the XStop EL90 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Fence-Energizer...
Or Gemini 80: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Fencing-0-8J-Ba...
I can't run to the £100+ ones unfortunately. We have a Rutland one at the mo but it's a battery one, and TBH it's cheaper to get a new energiser than a new battery, plus it's close to a mains outlet so I'm hoping that it will allow a more consistent supply.
TIA

The first on says it can do 10km of wire, so it has enough power, whether or not is is going to last very long is anyone's guess, you might as well give it a try. I've not used on for a few years, but seem to remember a good earth being the key. We used to drive a couple of 3 1 meter steel water pipes in the ground and earth it to that.
