Just bought GT6 today. Figured I might pick it up now everyone's worked out the best way to progress
It's taken three hours to install so far, and has been telling me I've got 2 mins to go for the last hour.
Joy.
I felt your pain last night. I bought the game at 19:00 yesterday evening. It had downloaded the main part (15 gb) by 20:30. By 22:00 the PS3 was ready to launch the game, but I expected a few updates. By MIDNIGHT it had updated and launched the game only for me to be presented with an in game installation screen first off telling me it had 580 minutes to go! This soon came down to four minutes, which took an hour to reduce to two minutes. I wondered into the lounge at 03:00 with the hope of turning everything off. Nope, still on 2 minutes! It's taken three hours to install so far, and has been telling me I've got 2 mins to go for the last hour.
Joy.
It was on the main screen when I got up for work this morning, so I just shut I down until tonight.
It certainly took a little longer than estimated!
I bought GT6 a few days ago. The install took 5 hours, so that was the first evening gone.
Working my way through the career races - the purchase of an RX7 proved to be shrewd as it's a lot quicker than the AI cars (and it power slides beautifully , but the real reason for buying it - so I can cock about at Le Mans - has been upstaged by the addiction that is Goodwood.

Not fired up the PS3 for a while, all I wanted to do was a few laps of Brands in Sennas F3 car.
I fear it would have been quicker to build a replica and drive to Brands and do it for real.
It would probably be quicker to invent a time machine then really do it for real!I fear it would have been quicker to build a replica and drive to Brands and do it for real.
I didn't bother with GT6 at launch, and I'm still sort of glad I haven't. I don't play PS3 very often, and GT5 drove me mad whenever I fancied a quick game but it wanted to start installing updates.

In fairness, this happens with a lot games these days, not just GT6. It is frustrating that the constant stream of updates for everything, all the time, means if you have 15 minutes to kill, a games console is no longer a viable source of entertainment.
If that happens I just tend to cancel the update and play the old version offline, then let PS Plus update it for me overnight. A bit annoying, but doesn;t stop the odd 15 minute session.cianha said:
Grrr. I've given up, and gone back to GT5. I'll give it a whirl again when the next patch comes out.
You followed these suggestions?http://www.gtplanet.net/gt6-installation-has-faile...

Has anyone played a single race (arcade mode) on the main Matterhorn track in the wet. It guarantees laughter I can tell you
I have to say the seasonal event set at the Matterhorn - think it's a 1min.10sec target for Gold has been alluding me for a while now , think 1.11 is my best. It's such a tricky track as it requires big HP & torque to get UP the hill but great balance and braking control to come back down the other side. That said I picked up a steering wheel & pedal set up last night (just the GT4 logitech for now) as it was a bargain due to coming with a wheel stand which is worth 3x the wheel. The Fanatec Gt3 is poised to go on but i need to get the matching pedal set up first. Hopefully the wheel should make the difference versus ye olde controller.
Yup, 3 times. On my 1MBit connection that takes about 2 days each time (and that's assuming it doesn't fail in the process)
I've also rebuilt the file DB and restored the file from the safe mode menu.
I see in the GTPla.net comments section someone recommended downloading from another ISP, I'll take it to my brother's place and see if I can download it, again...

I have a Logitech G25 and Bizarrely, it took some time to get used to the wheel. I had such a giggle practising on Matterhorn in the wet. Cars slide backwards as they can't get the power down! It's like trying to drive up a hill of snow on slicks

Nothing really exciting in this update, I notice a few people on GTplanet are suggesting a FPS drop on certain circuits now. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
