Just finished watching this for start to finish.

Totally passed me by when it was originally out so on looking for a new series to get into picked this up. The premise didn't appeal but on reflection it's one of the best shows I've seen. I'm a fan of Nip Tuck and it is in some ways a bit like that but with more depth, kind of morbid, black comedy.

Anyhow anyone who's not seen it and look for a new series to get into I'd recommend it. Micheal C Hall a.k.a. Dexter is one of the main cast and having watched Dexter prior to this it's odd seeing him in a different role. He's brilliant in this though and the rest of the cast are very good too.

Agreed. One of the best TV dramas of all time.

No one watched it. frown

Here's another thread about it that went nowhere:

Best ending to a TV series ever. As said before no stone left unturned. Rewatch the ending from time to time on youtube really like the song in it.

Michael C Hall is brillaint in this when you compare the role to Dexter. Apparently the Actor who played Nate originally auditioned to play David.

I watched the first series at the time then they would put it on at ridiculous times and change the times so I lost track (no cable or sky at the time!)

Odd, I have just started on this. Mainly as I had watched all of Dexter so went for some of Michael C Hall's earlier work. Really enjoying it so far and only part way through the first series. Some brilliant acting by all the cast and a good helping of dark humour.

One gripe though is that it cost nearly 20 quid on DVD and has been out almost 12 years!

Better than The Sopranos IMO, the best TV show I've ever watched. Then ending is fantastic, I had dust in my eye while watching it. I think one thing they did especially well was give the feeling that the characters are really growing and ageing as time passes.

The part that sticks in my mind most is when they find Lisa's body and it actually shows you it half rotted away. Then Nate buries her in the desert frown Also Nate's death was quite shocking, although he had become a total by then.

I did like the little touch of the funeral home retaining the Fisher & Sons name as David's adopted sons became part of it.

One of the few TV series that I spent my own money and bought the DVDs. Quality show.

Girlfriend bought me the 1st series for Christmas. I was worried that I wouldn't like it.

Was hooked after the first episode, absolutely love it. All great characters. You can be laughing at one scene and crying at the next.

Started watching a few days ago and had to order the 2nd series off eBay to keep my fix.

I've got the first season on DVD too, but never got round to watching it. Sounds like I should.

I watched this when it was first aired many years back (2001). I’ve owned both the video box set and now the dvd box set. Have recommended it to sooo many people. Yet none of my close friends or anyone I know (other than my ex) has watched it. They’re missing out.

Ever since the end (nothing has compared to those final 8 minutes) I’ve wanted that Sia Breathe Me track played at my funeral. Sia is more known today than the series.

I watched the first couple of episodes when it first came (IIRC it was on c4 (OR S4C in Wales) back when there was nothing of interest on there). I enjoyed the episodes I saw but then didn't see any more episodes for a fair while, maybe years, and the one I saw I just didn't 'get' and I never gave it another chance. I was only about 17 at the time.so whether I had just didn't understand it at the time or that I'd just lost track of the characters and the story.

I should probably give it another chance one day.

Still kind of haunts me nearly 13 years on. It’s just perfect. So clever and well written, directed, acted. The cinematography is great. Can’t listed to that without crying, welling up now. As said I’d like Sia: Breathe Me played at my funeral.

I’m sure it’s one of the forefront’s for Box Sets. I don’t think there’s been a better one since.

It works because it’s completed. No bizarre twist, no spin offs, no prequels, no sequel. Just honest.
