Long weekend in uk, something interesting?
Discussion
We have 3 days 1st to 3rd June for a long weekend, we are going to London for a weekend in July so that's out of the question, don't fancy walking in the lakes either done that loads.
I am trying to think of something interesting and out of the ordinary, such as a tour of a war bunker, power station, underground caves ect, something cool that you wouldn't think of doing.
If you can suggest anything that would be great!

http://www.showcaves.co.uk/ at Dan-yr-Ogof or Cheddar Gorge has a number of caves.
You could go to North wales and climb Y Garn or some similar mountain. The Edern peninsula up there is pretty and it's either Nefyn or Edern you can walk across to a pub on the beach. Risk of rain though...
Chester Zoo is huge and a nice day out.
Slimbridge Wildfowl Centre.
Various steam railways such as the Blaenavon Heritage Railway - pay once to ride all day - www.pontypool-and-blaenavon.co.uk - combined with a visit down Big Pit (may be restrictions on child ages) or there's bound to be a railway near you somewhere.

My usual is Portmeiron, nice place to be, nice place to get to.

Bit of walking, some nice food and drink and sandwiched between a couple of great drives.

If you like power stations the Dinorwig Power station does tours http://www.electricmountain.co.uk/en-GB/Dinorwig it takes you by bus deep into the heart of the mountain, not far from Portmerion nor the steam train that takes you up to the top of Snowdon.
