Spate Of LandRover Thefts
Discussion
I had this sent earlier today, might be worth taking extra care:
Owners of Landrover Defenders are being warned to remain vigilant following a series of thefts across Surrey and the surrounding area since January.
Officers are currently investigating more than 20 reports of thefts of Landrover Defenders, with mostly older models being targeted, in particular 1990-2005 models of the 90 and 110 type.
Vehicles have been stolen from across the county, including Cranleigh, Staines, Farnham, Dorking, Witley, Alfold, Frimley Green, Ewhurst, Tadworth and Mytchett. Officers are also investigating a number of other thefts in Thames Valley, Sussex and Hampshire.
Investigating Officer Detective Constable Kerry Whindle said: "We are currently investigating 23 offences and it is clear that these vehicles are being specifically targeted. We have also established that these vehicle thieves are mostly targeting older models which are not fitted with immobilisers.
"I would urge owners of these vehicles to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity relating to their vehicles. Can I also recommend that owners consider additional security measures for their vehicles, including steering or pedal box locks, alarms, immobilisers, hidden battery isolator switches or even something as simple as blocking your Defender with another car on the driveway.”
DC Whindle added: "We are carrying out a full investigation into these thefts and hope that by reminding owners of Landrover Defenders of some basic crime prevention advice that we may be able to prevent further offences from taking place. I am also appealing to anyone with any information about any of these thefts to come forward straightaway.”

My Landy was one of the above. Luckily recovered two days later. What I will say chaps is don't let it happen to you. Put as much in the way of the thief as you can. My whole family were really gutted when it got nicked. It is our fun vehicle that we can all go out in and enjoy together.
Today 2nd October 2014 someone has stolen my Land Rover Defender Tomb Raider from out of my garage, they stole the car keys from my house, got into the garage and drove the Land Rover out from under my nose ! i was painting the outside of the hose and saw them speed off !!

This could be starting up north too, Good mate of mine Dom Brunt ( paddy from Emmerdale) had his nicked this morning or last night. From the hebden bridge area. he's posted it of facebook and its getting shared a lot.
We woke up this morning to find our Land Rover had been stolen from our driveway.
Hebden Bridge / Halifax area.
Fuming obviously and the kids are upset and rattled.
If you see it (chance would be a fine thing) can you get in touch?
This is an old picture from the garage who last owned it.
It's a lot more rough and ready now and has a roof rack on.
Thank you.

I've just had my Defender stolen (see general gassing thread). 2000 Td5 County. Fully rebuilt recently with Puma Panels and painted in Keswick Green. Fitted with Grey Boost Alloy Wheels with a cut lip wilike the Tomb Raider. Pictures in GG thread.
Taken from Oare in Wiltshire, near Marlborough.
