I would expect to get 20% off that for a cash purchase.

With Rolex's recent policies regarding discounts that is unlikely

Hi , discounts when buying a new rolex are becoming a thing of the past . Over recent years rolex have reduced their dealer network , those that remain follow rolex guidelines . Discount is discouraged strongly .
Why not consider the pr - owned market . There are many reputable watch dealers , in some cases they sell unworn watches or older but well looked after examples .

Pick it up at Heathrow for 20% discount.

You'll easily get 10% but you'll have to go in yourself at a rolex AD and barter rather than phone. I guess an email is a no no.

For a small commission buy a pre-owned un worn example from a good second hand dealer. Basically they are brought in from the EU from AD's in struggling countries such as Greece. All warranty cards signed and stamped and will be easy to get a decent discount .

Good luck

As you are not paying VAT on the way out, what happens when you return to the UK with the watch, I assume an Honest person would declare the watch and pay the VAT.

AS I understand it, if Rolex find AD's giving discounts they will remove the franchise, irrelevant of what country they are in.

Expect all you want, in the Uk I doubt you'd get it though.

I spoke to the rolex AD at Heathrow and you don't need to be flying out of the EU to get the 20% off.
Just book a flight to Manchester and get the train home.
They don't always have the best sports steel watches in but anything with gold they will be more than happy to get for you. Give them a heads up and they will get it in for you.

This was the info they gave me two months ago.

I think the point is some of these AD's in Greece and parts of Italy for example won't be there for much longer and are more than happy to sell decent new stock cheaply to pre-owned dealers in the UK and Germany when they bulk buy a few watches. All within the EU so no import tax req.

Makes sense to me

Broken record I know, but try Dominic Hackett of Hackett Watches if you want a brand new mid to high end watch at a good price.

You can book a flexible ticket, buy the watch and then walk out of the airport then claim the flight cost back. It's not 'Duty Free' any more, it's 'discount equivalent to VAT'.

I have to agree with Neil-f here. No one is obligated to tell anyone how to get a discount but there are ways. I just spoke to someone this morning who has a slightly complicated way of getting discounts (ie not walking into a shop and asking for it) but his method works. Why should people like that divulge all their little tricks. They have done their homework and now make a living out of it.

Well that's really helpful, in a forum environment isn't it?
Basically you're just bragging like a school child "I've got a secret, and I'm not telling"
If you're not prepared to share good fortune amongst like mined people on a forum, why bother commenting at all.

I have called out people on this subject before and so have others, it's funny that the same replies come back "i'm not telling blah, blah, blah"
I would understand if we were traders in competition trying to make money, but we are not.

As no one has ever proved this mystical 20% discount on Rolex, it all smacks of B*llsh*t to me.

Calm down dear it is only a forum afterall.

I have many different Rolex all bought new from Rolex ADs - all but one were bought here in the UK. The only Rolex watches I have ever paid full list price for were my two SS Daytona (black face and white face)and a Rolex LV Anniversary sub date. On all the other watches I have had a discount.
The highest discount was 33% on a brand new SS Submariner Date , followed by 25% on a brand new Gold Submariner date, 20% on a Steel and Gold Datejust, 15% off a Steel and Gold Daytona, 11% off a SS GMT IIC, 10% off a Rolex DeepSea(this was bought recently - I could have probably haggled more off)

Oh dear you are upset biggrin
I always do a deal for the best price on my car servicing its not fair to quote the dealers price for this work it is up to each and every person to negotiate his/her own deal.
Think what you like, not bragging or bullstting, I have no need thumbup
OP asked if he could/should get a discount and I said yes, so I was being helpfull.
You are just upset because you are no good at negotiating wink
