Anyone heard much about this? Press embargo for the next 9 days apparently. Flappy paddle only, capable of 205mph, has the vanquish engine as I understand it. Couldn't see a mention on here although didn't look that hard!

Probably the worst kept secret. At the factory last week I told our guide for the afternoon to feel free to point one out as we wandered round. Tongue firmly in cheek, of course.

Heard pretty much the same today at the dealer.

Its a shame that they do put the manual gearbox on to the Vanquish engine for the V12VS. That would set it apart from the rest of the range and continue the tradition of the V12V being the most hardcore of the Aston range. When I drove the Vanquish the TT gearbox was the most disappointing aspect of the car. It felt really slow.

Might be SS in the V12 VS though, not an auto.

I'd rather have a real manual, but I can't afford a V12VS anyway, so not complaining smile

I didn't realise a reveal was so close, but it makes sense as otherwise it;s quite a gap til august since existing v12v production has finished

its definitely sportsshift not TT

There will be 3 stage adaptive dampers

The big remaining question is design/shape - the rest seems reasonably well known

Interestingly, it's I guess theoretically much easier to adapt a sportshift car to 3 pedal than touchtronic - I'm not saying it would be cheap, but technically it's much more feasible and you could keep the same ratios

I was offered the new car with the Vanquish engine and auto box last week when searching for a new V12V but I declined. I drove a Vanquish recently and it made no lasting impression on me because of the auto box and thought the steering wheel buttons were tacky

I put one around Millbrook a couple of weeks ago and believe me, it does come alive when you dial in a few different settings, but I know what you mean. In the V12V just hit "Sport" or "Warp" as I prefer to call it and that's it. Seeeeee Ya!!!!

If it is an ASM gearbox with the Vanquish engine, then that is my next car. I prefer an Automated manual, it's faster biggrin For me a proper paddle shift is better than a manual as I don't waste time pressing a clutch. Moreover BR will make it over 600BHP with a simple set of exhausts yes

Could be a good option that wink

If they make a roadster with ASM then that's definitely going to be one of my future cars (once they've depriciated a bit lot).

And they can apply their ASM mods cloud9

Does anyone know a price point for these yet?

Surely it'll need more than the standard Vanquish engine to achieve 205mph, so maybe it won't need BR to take it over the 600bhp mark.

Why would it? The only thing holding the Vanquish's top speed back is the gearbox.

I'd have thought it'd need more than 55bhp over the regular V12 to take top speed from 190 to 205. I'm no expert though.

It has to be SS. The reason the Vanquish's top speed is low is the TT gearbox.

Who says that 190mph is it's true top speed? It could be down to the gearbox that won't allow it to go any faster. Maybe the car can do a theoretical 205mph if the gearbox would rev higher/have another ratio. With SS there are 7 gears so it might be exactly that.

Well, in that case the 190 might be wrong, the 205 might be wrong, the gearbox might be wrong, so I will stop speculating.

Given power and weight, the current V12V ought to be able to top 200, given an E60 M5 can do so (despite a greater frontal area). All depends on the gearing.
