I've just taken my Mini through an ITV test and was thoroughly impressed by the whole process - start to finish.

The test station I use is very new so maybe not all ITV stations around Spain are the same. 6 lanes continuously testing cars with very modern kit and very thorough. I was fascinated by the wobble test (drive onto movable plates while tested checks for suspension wear).

And to top it all, a friendly Jesus said my car was safe. 28 minutes later I'm on my way with a fresh ITV.

I'm trying not to compare Spain with the UK but in this instance, MoT v ITV makes Spain look years ahead.

Until you want to change something on the car, like a tow bar or tyre size for instance. PITA.

I took my brand new truck for an inspection of the tow bar, after getting the appropriate bits of paper, paying the fee at the bank, returning with the two receipts, and papers from the garage that fitted the tow bar, and getting a date and time.
I also asked if they could do the front bush bars at the same time. "Not necessary" they said. O.K. Cool.....

Two years later, I turn up for the ITV. Fail!

"You don´t have the test stamp for the bush bars"

"But you told me it wasn´t necessary"

"Ah, but the law´s changed"

More paper, off to the bank, back to the garage that fitted the bush bars two years previous, pay at the bank, return with receipts to get a date/time, ah! "The garage´s licence has expired"! "Take this back to the garage, get them to pay at the bank, bring the receipts back to us"...... banghead

Wait until you´ve been here a few more years smile

I took my Spanish car for ITV when we were over there last month.

Did your station have the new system where you go to the machine in the foyer, press a button then select your reg. number off the screen and it issues a ticket...........which you take to the desk and pay the fee?

Very streamlined................but it had only just been installed and all the Spanish were ignoring it and just going straight to the desk as normalsmile..........bloke behind the desk was getting really annoyed about it, I lost count of the number of times conjo was utteredbiggrin

Yep, the Spanish ITV system is very slick, and they've no vested interest to fail you.

Hiya Kenny wavey

It must be an Island thing. The main goal in life here is to make everything as difficult as possible for everyone. rolleyes

I´ll look forward to the ticketing thing at the end of the summer. My truck is now old enough to need an ITV every year now.
