10 month old terrier. He has always been a little stiff when getting up after a nap but now he limps with his front leg. It only goes on for a few seconds and then returns to normal

and started a week ago after a massive romp with a spaniel that left him quite knackered. Always goes for quite a bit of rough and tumble with local dogs of all ages but this one left him "out of sorts"

It doesn't seem tender you can touch and manipulate it, what do you think? Muscle strain? Should we ease off on exercise for a bit.

I would certainly reduce his exercise for a while.

He should be ok over weekend but the thing is a 10mth old should not be stiff at all unless he's had some mega exercise. He could be in some discomfort so pain relief may help. Do your vets do a Sat am surgery?

My youngest gsp had a simillar thing when she was 6mnths old and at the age of crack cocaine and red bull fueled energy bursts. Trip to the vet for some metacam, ibuprofen for dogs, sorted her out. Also had her stiff elbow joint x rayed which made me glad i had insurance.

All seems okay. Cut execise down a bit and kept to quieter walks where he won't meet so many dogs for boisterous play. So maybe just a strain probably did come under the "mega exercise" heading.
