The excessive use of 'her' and 'she' in the description irks me, but apart from that, I really like it.
Same here.
Yeah, silly fools.

Tried to reply there Tom but won't let me. You are an awesome guy and the car is fantastic. I go to bed tonight with a smile. I have bought and sold many cars and never come across someone as dedicated, honest and decent as you Thank you!
It looks like a lovely example I must say. A veritable bargain, hope it treats you well smile

This looks bloody tidy for £800. Interior shots are a bit distant so difficult to gauge interior wear, but it looks fantastic in that blue, nice 2.8 V6 engine, quattro too! Lovely winter hack. 9 months ticket and a few months rent chucked in to make it a drive away car. If I didn't already have one thirsty V6 on the drive, I'd be all over this, just down the road too!

Enjoy it Jason, you are a gent.
Nice story. Looks like a decent seller met a decent (and grateful) buyer. Everyone's happy.

I've heard these are a terrible used purchase, and burst into flames at every opportunity. They also smell vaguely of haddock.

Enquiry sent. Hands off.

I've bought a new(er) car and now I'm after a bit of advice selling my V reg, 2000 plate W202 Merc 230k Sport with 110kish miles on the clock.

As it has about 10 Months MOT on it, am I better selling with the Tax that expires the end of October, or should I SORN it? Thing is I think once it is not insured the stupid new rules say it must be SORN!

It has a private reg plate on it too, so will there be any complications with the Tax disk as I believe you have to send the disk back anyway to get a new one issued. Can I transfer of place in retention the plate off a SORN car?

This is making my head spin.

Emeye - leave the tax on. While its going through a cherished transfer i doubt the system will catch up and its 10000x easier to sell a taxed car while you still can (not possible soon!)

Do not under any circumstance surrender the tax disc till a new age related one has been issued and the application to retain/transfer has been processed otherwise you will not be able to remove the number plate from the car.

The only exception is if the tax disc has naturally expired , they will then consider an application

I gave up and phoned the DVLA earlier, they told me to sorn it first and there would be no problem doing the transfer as long as it has been taxed in the last 12 months. Thing is I can't sell it until the transfer has been done and at least I will get some of the tax back. Leave it much longer and I lose another month. They did tell me that transfers were only taking about a week.

I do wonder why I even bother with the plate, especially having to piss around every time I change car, or as usually happens it sits around on retention for years costing me money - £25 a year to the DVLA for er, nothing.

Not sure what the mpg is tbh, I never really kept a check on it, but the manual box probably helps. Not great around town, but pretty reasonable on a long run - not very helpful that is it? Has the most amazing turning circle though, biggrin ooh and the engines have a great reputation.

Not sure what the going rate of these is either - I have an idea of what I want for it, having recently added leather and having new pads on the front and keeping up the service history - but I have to be realistic as these cars are not worth a massive amount. The aircon still works as the previous owner spent £800ish on it a few years ago!

Either not a very successful trader or it's already sold, as I've had no response to my enquiries and there's no phone number on the ad.

I really like that, looks great in that colour. I too already have 1 thirsty V6 and no justification for a second car frown

Watching this thread with interest again as a new bargain basement motor is needed, we need more northern cars, anything decent always seems to be 200 miles away.

Cheers for this warning - it seems you can sorn the car, but if you send the tax disc back for a refund you are fked. The nice lady at the dvla failed to mention this but your post put me on guard, and on the plate transfer form it tells you not to get a refund, but as I planned to sorn and get a refund before the transfer, it could have left me stuck.

Me and 3 mates bought a MK2 Mondeo V6 Ghia-X to do a Eurotrip in. It was the perfect tool for the job. So I'd suggest a Mondeo smile
