Omega could be a good shout actually, how reliable are they?
Speaking only from personal experience, not very!
I bought one in February seemingly in good condition. FSH, cow, everything was good. Since then it's done a thermostat, cam cover gaskets, oil cooler, and the auto box needed flushing and a refresh.

Problem is even the newest ones are now 11 years old, and the things I've listed above are common faults, so it's a case of when they'll go, not if.

That said, when it's fault free, for the money there's nowhere I'd rather be sat for a motorway cruise.

A quick search shows it to be group 27 smile

And The Spruce Goose has rendered the need for a PM unnecessary wink

Any Mercedes W210 Estate owners on here... Could you tell me if they will take a full size road bike in the boot without having to remove the wheels... Cheers.

With the rear seats down, my old S210 took a full sized MTB with the wheels on with no problem at all. HTH

Watching this thread with interest again as a new bargain basement motor is needed, we need more northern cars, anything decent always seems to be 200 miles away.
I see my Le Mans Jag (posted on this thread back in March) is back in the PH classifieds in York still. 3.2l V8 for £850....

Any help?

Cheers,
Tom

Well that was quick... and 'interesting'. Car sold for £50 less than the asking price, to a very polite East European chap and his two large friends who turned up after 11pm this evening after getting stuck/lost between Coventry and my place.

Precautions were taken but looked to be unnecessary - it's just rather worrying having someone turn up mob handed so late! Still, I have to say this was one of the easiest sales ever (though it's unlikely I'll ever be forgiven by the missus for doing this). They had a quick look over the car, test drive around the block and then job done. thumbup

not sure looking at 700 quid(tax) for a not special car seems a lot when better can be had that are more interesting.

and i never trust cars 'Waiting for v5 from dvla, although we have green slip ' unless the seller seems honest...

As it is usually car bought then find a fault and want rid quickly.

hehe could be a plan - the insurance group is vital though, if it's not 29 or under it can't be covered on my current policy
