Like engine oil gearbox oil has different grades and types, didn't mean the exact brand but the same spec oil. Didn't mean to be misleading

How about one of these, getting quite rare these days?

Less talk, more action!

Drove 240 miles down to Blackpool after work last night, walked round it once, handed over a fair bit less then £500 and drove all the way home again averaging 35mpg in the process before falling in the door at 1am.

It has some errr... niggles... and it's minging (that was this afternoon's mission) but for the cash I'm actually rather pleased.

Granted, not as cool as the M plate white 850 T5 saloon I had earmarked but it has many many issues sadly.

Cheers!

Ha! Very northern / Lancashire type so there was definitely a language barrier. Kept telling me how fast it was... kept telling him this is my 9th. Gave him money, drove it away. Stopped a mile up the road to swap a borderline tyre (!) and then high tailed it home. Cold hard light of day... it's not bad. List isn't two pages.... yet!

Updates to follow in my readers car thread... and already back on eBay looking for an S80 T6...

Cheers!

I need a motorway muncher for about 500 quid for a daily commute down the A19.

500 quid spend, ideally, and I'd prefer an auto, ideally with AC and cow... I'm thinking 75, S\V70, 9-5/9-3, Legacy, Galant. Any other ideas?

Nice cheap runabout. I'm oddly tempted now that they're so rare.

Nice purchase in some ways - but a mate acquired a similar car without any faults for £500 so it's not all gravy (older petrol MPVs seem really, really, really hard to shift for reasons I cannot fully fathom??)

Am I the only one to think it crazy to travel so far for a cheap car? I can understand if it's a rare supercar, you might even travel to another country if you're that keen, but for a £500 car I wouldn't bother searching past a 5 mile radius.

It's not a £500 car... it's a £500 Volvo V70 T5 and there weren't any of those within a 5 mile radius.

Closest one was 240 miles and I did travel to another country.

I love these and was thinking about them the other day. Used to sell them new and they are great hot hatches and that engine is a peach. Tempted with that one......thank God I have a private plate to go in it though wink
