I'd be on my way over to buy this old Merc estate today if I wasn't about to go off on holiday for 2 weeks. frown

It looks exactly what I wanted - hopefully it's as good as it sounds and someone else on here can benefit!

It's a private sale, so no location given. somewhere South England I guess, there is a website where you put in three different postcodes and it will give a rough idea of where the car is via triangulation.

Don't know the URL do you? I live on the edges of London so 15 miles in one direction would send me into ridiculous amounts of traffic whereas 15 miles in another direction is mainly countryside with a few towns and villages. I don't mind travelling out 20 minutes to see a car in a village but would hate to wade through traffic for 60 minutes to view a car in, say, Streatham, from Kingston.

I haven't used it, but this can work apparently

http://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.ht...

Here is an explanation of how you use it.

If it is any use it's saying 150 miles from me, I'm on the east coast in Kent.

Cheers. Will have a play. I think it's broken, though. There are two North Americas.

Spot on spruce, half way between Lincoln and Newark-upon-Trent. Looks nice too.

Was showing 67 miles from me near Manchester, so that sound about right!

Not ideal for quickly locating multiple cars. Any other solutions? Anyone good at building websites...

That's lovely - what are the most common problems with them that some preventative maintenance could help with (changing the timing belt immediately regardless of history, stuff like that)

Not really preventative, but IIRC the rear wings are triple skinned and can't be repaired easily or at all.

Like you have already said, timing belt change no matter when it was last done and watch out for wayward electrics.

Or don't change the timing belt (and tensioner) and risk it as it will cost half the value of the car unless you can do it yourself.

If it was only a weekend car I would probably take the chance.

Loved my 1.8T A6 like that - it was a fking money pit in itself though so this terrifies me and excites me at the same time!

WIP = Work In Progress

That thing looks awesome, almost worth buying it and driving it until it stops!
