Sign in chippy.
"No smoking. This is a food premises"
And I don't mean a scribble on a sheet of A4 - this was a commercially produced vinyl sign.
What's so bad about that?"No smoking. This is a food premises"

It's true that it's illegal to smoke in there. Is the problem that it being somewhere food is served is superfluous?
Maybe the sign was there before the smoking ban and it's just to reinforce it? There were plenty of people who wouldn't smoke around food then.

I'm assuming it's the use of the words 'this is a' followed by 'premises', isn't that like saying "this is a buildings"?
I thought that 'premises' was one of those words whose singular and plural were the same. Like the word 'sheep'?Or, more accurately, it's a word used in the plural but of singular construction. So I guess if you were going to be a completely uptight pedant about things they should have written "these are food premises" or "this is a food establishment". However, "this is a food premises" isn't the complete howler that it's being made out to be.
Retarded Motherflucking Knobjockey drivers who wish to join a dual carriageway (A120 near Stansted/Dunnmow to be exact) and actually find the time to check mirrors with 10 yards of sliproad left @ 43.7 mph and expect me to wipe out that car in the outside lane just to let you in.
