Hi guys,
So earlier I get a phone call from my mum(strange considering we weren't speaking) telling me my sisters dog Tinkerbell(8yr old lurcher cross) has been hit by a car and died at the side of the road.
She was a lovely dog and really soft, and already despite not having seen her for a month miss her terribly.
The story however sounds a bit strange, not how it happened but the behaviour of the mutley!
Rewind back to Friday night my sister finds a lump under tinker bells armpit, she put her hand on it at which point the pooch growled and snapped, obviously in a lot of pain...
Monday night they are stood outside having a fag and she bolts out of the open gate chasing after a cat, she has never run in the time my sister has had her!
They go looking at the side of an A foad(stupid but this pooch was my sisters life) police get involved and promise to contact her, dog comes back and then goes again, 4 the next morning they get a call from an emotional copper saying pooch is dead at the side of the road been knocked down by a taxi!
Only thing is the town is about 5 miles away from my sisters house!!!
My first thought that she acted like a seagull and went away knowing that she was poorly.
Anyway vets post Mortum type thing says she had internal bleeding, four broken legs and a broken skull, also a nice big chunk of car bumper embedded in her side!
Apart from getting this all out, I wanted to know anyone's thoughts on my theory about her basically going away to die,
I will upload a picture when I can work out how to post pictures from my Iphone!

I can see why you would think this but dogs aren't quite so likely to do this. Most animals that go away to die are much more poorly are not up to chasing something, they usually crawl under a bush or hide away somewhere.

I really am sorry for this tragic accident. I do think Tinkerbell probably became very confused after running after the cat and yes it is possible pain contributed to this action making keep running but no I don't think she went off to die, you would be almost saying she had committed suicide, Tinkerbell would not have done this, animals don't.

RIP dear Tinkerbell, so sorry for your loss.
