That said, I just did a search for that weekend flying a few days before and a few days after the GP. The economy price was £583 and the business class flight was £3,300.
I thought £1,200 sounded a bit light...
This is from Dublin where the government take a more proactive view and have no APD!I thought £1,200 sounded a bit light...

ETA - flights leaving Dublin are a LOT cheaper!! Next time I'm going to have to fly...
LHR-DUB-LHR-DESTINATION-LHR (then I'll sack the rest of it off...)
Seems like effort but good for status points and about £700 cheaper than a ticket going straight from LHR to final destination!!

I've flown Etihad business class to Abu Dhabi and found the experience a lot better than BA club world. The lounge at Heathrow is less packed, you get a massage before you board the plane, the food and presentation of it was nicer, the screens are bigger, no silly seats where you're facing someone and having to climb over someone's feet if you have a window seat.
Trouble is once you have experienced business class like that you will not want to fly anything else.
We flew to Abu Dhabi with Etihad last year economy class and was disappointed with the service, drinks, food, everything.I`ve traveled with Emirates many times and found them perfect in economy,I was under the impression that Etihad was better.Or did we just pick a bum crew having a bad day??

Why would you fly back from Dublin to LHR to your destination having flown initialy from LHR to Dublin?
£900 cheaper for a club world ticket with BA!Silver993tt said:
es but it's only an airplane seat. What's the point of wasting all that time going to Dublin and back when it's only a few hours to Abu Dhabi? I really can't see this fascination with paying stupid money for a seat on a plane that's marginally bigger for a few hours. Save the money and then buy another holiday or whatever. I could understand if the difference was £50 or so but paying £100s is simply crazy when you don't get very much more than some extra food worth around £10 and a slightly bigger seat worth maybe £30.
Well, you'll be pleased that I won't be taking up an economy seat you're looking to book next time you want to go away. We all spend our money the way we want, trying to rationalise it as you do will never work. That would be like trying to rationalise the costs of a track day - it's not about anything tangible per se, but it is an experience I am happy to spend my hard earned on...
PS - the food and drink is more than £10 better...
