I saw an Audi Nogaro blue 996 turbo recently that looked fantastic but my favorite 911 of all time has to be Agent Orange's old Blutorange 993 GT2.. not sure if that was a Porsche colour or not. It should be.

Ok, opinions please;

Do these two colours look the same to you or different?

I want the colour that is known as Acid Green (the same colour as the hybrid calipers). I've been told that the Acid green is not available as an exterior colour and the 'closest' colour is Light Green paint code 253.

The first picture is apparently Birch Green (USA) that also has the 253 paint code, the second picture has been sent to me by Porsche GB as an example of Light Green, also paint code 253.

To me they look different. The first more yellow, the second more pea green??

Am I going colour blind and they look the same or do they look different to other people??

speak to Porsche exclusive directly, put the ball in their court and tell them what you want. it's the best way.

you could also fly to Stuttgart or get them to send the colour samples.

Yeah I don't think the salesman at the OPC gives a hoot now that the order is placed and just wants me to pick a colour, any colour!!

Sounds like I need to bypass him...........is there an OPC in the UK that might have PTS samples to view?

Surely the numerical code is what the paint plant in the factory goes by and being known by different names in different markets isn't an issue. Colours in photographs can be deceptive due to lighting, equipment, etc.

Probably the same colour, I suspect the different tint is in the media!?

Of course, I agree. However, I've been told that there even different compounds and shades of the same paint code!?!?

Confused.

Doing my head in. Probably just pick a different bloody colour!

I thought the idea of colour to sample was that you could choose a colour with a sample, i.e have whatever colour you want?? Obviously not!!!

It is.

But, there is a long list of paints that have already been approved. If you choose one of them, it will still add 12 weeks to your order time apparently.

You can supply a sample of the colour you want but it can take six months for them to decide to decline you're request!

Also a Voodoo Blue Boxster S again at OPC Glasgow!

That looks fab. I'm really liking the colour coded paint around the lip of the alloy. Same goes for the orange one.
But it's not colour coded, it's bloody red on a blue car which looks terrible, would look great if the lip was the same blue IMHO

Colour coded to the calipers and seatbelts maybe?

I agree though, I wouldn't choose that red with the blue paint.....

You could be right but almost every other colour seems to be consistent in nearly all pictures, Riviera Blue for example, looks the same in all pictures.

Porsche also sent me this picture which didn't help as it isn't anywhere near the colour I'm looking for really;

I've asked if Porsche can send the OPC a sample so I can see it with my own eyes.....

I would go to OPC Silverstone or Reading. For the more exotic colours they will need to request samples from Stuttgart.

It's a cheap flight out there, I would consider spending half a day at the Exclusive centre if you are doing the interior with extended leather/stitching as well.

Acid green is a new shade (i think only for callipers?) along with the frosted white body colour, I doubt any centre will have chips. Birch Green is an established shade but its not the colour you are asking for. I think the one you need is 'Lichtgrün 253' which is of course, light green. I think the second car you posted, the 991 C2S with bodykit is the correct shade as it has the matching seat inserts.

Viper Green still looks great too, don't rule it out.

Hi Sarnie,

If you have paid your 10% deposit for a PTS car, ask your dealer to get you colour samples from the factory. I asked for Riviera, Mexico and Gulf blues and got them within a month! I don't know if its standard practice with all dealers but it should be when you are ordering PTS off the 'standard' PTS list. It really helps to see them in the flesh.

You still have plenty of time to confirm your spec for a January order (as I do) so go for it!

Cheers - Tony

I added the 'standard' GTS interior pack with the silver stitching.

I asked my OPC if it's possible to have green stitching to match the car and was told that Germany said no, standard Red or Silver only, which I found odd as you can specifically choose Acid Green deviating stitching on the 918. Appreciate it's a totally different car, but it shows that they do do it, they obviously just don't want to do it for a Cayman.....

Personally if I was buying a new car, I would fly out there and beg, cajole, do whatever it took to get the spec just 'so'

If you're going with a bright yellow/green, take a look at his page. Gelbgrun is an old Porsche colour from the 70s which I absolutely love.

Ha!

The OPC have said that they can get a sample sent over but it may take a while, so we'll see what that brings!

ahh. This is one of the reasons why you need to speak to exclusive directly.

My understanding is that 'yes' on a GTS 'special package' interior the stitching and finishing options are set as part of those interior packages, you have two choices in colour.

That don't mean you can't select acid green stitching by dropping the pack, just not as part of the cut price GTS interior pack, you will just pay more.

If you want Alcantara with Acid Green stitching I would imagine they will do it, you just need the correct options codes and pricing from exclusive.
