Another thread regarding Spa has got me thinking....

I was hoping to go back to Spa in 2014, however as the last trip cost us about £800 I was wondering whether I could do the Italian GP for that amount (or less ideally!).

Has anyone here done the Italian GP? If so, how much should I be looking at? And any other tips/recommendations?

p.s I would prefer to do the 3 days, but maybe could just do the Sat and Sun to keep costs down, so 3 night stay Fri, Sat and Sun.

Hi

I`ve done it about 5 times, cheap and nasty fight to Bergamo, hired a car, stayed on Lake Como and drove back and forth to Monza, you could also stay in Bergamo itself (old town on top only though / Cita Alta which is lovely)also stayed in Milan and did the same which I didn`t enjoy!

Alternatively you COULD drive there in one hit if you have something very comfy and had very good company or break the trip in Chamonix before popping through the tunnel to Italy the next day for the last 3hrs.

I once flew to Bergamo, went to qualifying the next day, flew home that night and watched the race on TV in England which strangely worked really well!

IN my opinion there isn`t really any point buying a Grandstand ticket, just mingle with the MENTAL fans (mental in a good way)and find the viewpoint that you like!
