I'm looking to replace the timing chain on a Nissan Almera but want to make sure I buy a quality kit so I don't end up doing it again, does anybody know of a good manufacture / supplier of these ?

Thanks

A Nissan dealer would be a good place to start.

If you dont want to go to a dealer, then FAI kits are common and a good bet.

Ideally I was hoping to get the same parts as the dealer would supply but at a better price.

I have seen the FAI kits on euro parts but wasn't sure about the quality of these do you have experience of these ?

I fitted an FAI chain and tensioner kit to my 1.6 HDi van, it is only a small chain though. They have been about for years and are a large company that supplies many places with parts, they are not your budget 'First Line' rubbish.

Agree with Stevie, original is OK but not able for neglect. If you're worried about the service life of the new chain, regular oil changes are more important than brand name.

Thanks for the replies I'm going to go for the FAI kit.

Regarding the oil changes that hasn't been the problem with my engine I have always used good oil and a Nissan filter. I think the main issue with these is just poor design or cheap parts used by Nissan.
