So much for shopping around...

Was advised at MOT that rear tyres were close to minimum tread depth so need replacing. Shopped around and found a deal on Bridgestones for £507 incl fitting, balancing etc. Took the car in on Saturday morning. They said it would take about 1-1.5 hrs and will call me when it's done. I called after 2 hours to ask what was going on and they said they were having trouble getting the tyres off the wheels. They phoned later to say their machine is playing up and they don't want to damage the wheels, but if i take it to a different branch nearby they have a bigger machine. I said I didn't have time for that right now and the car is going for servicing this week anyway so I'll just get the dealer to do it.

Then they phoned yesterday morning to say their mechanic told them he might have damaged one of the wheels!! Checked when I got home last night and sure enough, one of them is scuffed in 2 places.

They said if I bring the car in again they'll "sort it out" but not yet said what precisely they mean by "sort it out". What do you all think I should push for? There was no inspection at drop-off or pick-up, and to be fair to them, they fessed up before I noticed the problem. Car is off to Grange tomorrow for servicing anyway so I might get them to change the tyres. Or should I push for tyre centre to refurb the wheel and give discount on tyres?

Good point, I'm so observant aren't I! Just as well it's being replaced anyway.

I’d ask for compensation and get the refurb done by one of the recognised specialists.
