I know I'm probably passing idle comment on a debate that ranks above religion and sport to those that argue it, but looking at the specs for this jet, the airbus range really seems to have boeing on the back foot.

Can't wait for the '-900R to be in service on the london-oz route, hopefully with comparably priced seats, other halfs an aussie so we make regular trips.

Well it looks rather dull to me but apparently they've already sold 600 at $250,000,000 each...

Perhaps batteries will be to Boeing what metal fatigue was to de Havilland?

Worse thing is they still don't have a root cause, that is the problem.

I'd love to know how you sell a $250,000,000 airliner. Do they just send in a bloke with a briefcase and an order pad or is it done 'old school tie' on a luxury yacht in Monaco?

You usually sit in an office and buy it over the phone, then you transfer it to someone else who you then immediately l lease it from.

I can't help thinking that if they bought the leasing company they'd save a lot of money...

They probably do own it don't they?

They're not stupid, or like politicians with public resources...

How comes they left the undercarriage down for so long?
First flight, they have other more important things to test than finding out the undercarriage doesnt work, im guessing. Also testing drag etc...
There are various reasons but mainly it's so that the crew can concentrate on what's going on the cockpit, it's one less system to fail in operation, and it is better to leave the gear down on first flight in case of an unexpected quick landing (eg engine failure (but not on these!) or systems failure).

The departure angle is probably higher in order to maintain normal engine operating parameters and remain below the landing gear limiting speed.

no displays at Paris scheduled, and I'd be VERY surprised if the A350 'flew past' only 1 week after it's first ever flight.

anyone interested.
BA are apparently having one on loan for the weekend of 6/7th June for the staff to have a look around.
First visit to LHR unless I am mistaken.

Qatar brought one in 8-10 weeks ago. And very nice it was too. smile

My mistake, was that the start of a service, or a proving flight?
