Well, a couple of weeks ago I bought this Saab 9-5 Aero Estate off Ebay.

It's done 225k, but seems to have been well looked after, and the seller was very helpful, and a great chap as well. Travelled from Plymouth to near Folkstone to collect it today, and I'm pleased to say that the car is every bit as good as I thought it would be.

The journey home was enjoyed in some comfort, and mainly at a fair pace - 32.2 mpg is a result I'm very happy with, to say the least.

I've bought the car for this year's camping holiday to Scotland - out gear seems to have outgrown my little Panda somewhat!

Olaf, as it was known, is in amazing condition for it's mileage, and apart from rattling front anti roll bar drop links hasn't a squeak or a rattle on it. Quite astonishing really - the interior looks like it's done a third of the mileage!

All in all, I'm over the moon with it!

Enjoy, I loved mine. www.uksaabs.com is a good site for these. Oooh, can I be the first to say do a sump clean?;)

Without a doubt some of the most comfortable seats ever fitted to a car... great choice for that alone!

It would be, if I could get on it at the moment! Some sort of error for me.

The sump strainer issue has been sorted - it's got the same Saab specialist history form 2004 on.

Recent clutch and SID display unit - probably more than I paid for the car!

Looks to be in great condition, especially considering the mileage.

I've seen seats that look worse on cars with less than a quarter of 225k miles! Great purchase smile

Just spent £40 on it - set of mats, pair of drop links and some seat colourant! Will the spending never end? hehe

Love these, my parents had a similar one a few years ago, not an Aero, but I will always maintain it was my favourite car they ever had. Seats are epic, currently sitting in my Saab 9-5 Desk Chair.

Lovely BB buying. Looks very smart, and should be a great thing for camping/exploring Scotland.

I have just bought a pair of rear bearing/hub units, as I'm pretty sure the n/s/r bearing is on the way out. I know that uneven tyre wear can be an issue on these, but they seem fine, and it does also get worse on r/h corners, which would point to it being the bearing.

I will probably wait for the bearings to arrive and do those and the droplinks at the same time. I bought both sides for the rear, as they are a relatively simple job, and once you've done one side, the other is always much easier!

Other than that, it's running like a dream. I have investigated getting a stage 1 re-map, and a short shift kit, as there is a bit of play in the shift lever. Not over much, but it would be nice to have it a touch more precise.

Mine had play in the gearlever too, I replaced the gearbox mount with a polybush one which made a big difference, cost me about £50(cheaper imported from the states than from Abbott Bros)

Have a look on UKsaabs for the user Saabnoob, his remaps are very popular

Car is still running OK - might have to get some new tyres before our holiday though - just seen that the rears are ridged on the inner edges, and there is a cut in one of the tread blocks on the front n/s. Don't fancy 1800 miles in a week like that!

Small problem keeps manifesting itself, in that one of the boost vacuum hoses keeps coming off, leading the CEL light coming on. I've ordered some 3mm ID Samco hosing and I'll replace all the lines - they are pretty perished, very dry and brittle. Got some little clips as well, though I believe the 3mm hosing gives a pretty tight fit.

10 minute job to change the very tired hoses today. Also ordered my tyres, which will be fitted Thursday. Went for Avon ZZ3s in the end, decent value for money for a premium brand. £336 fitted.

Looks very nice.

Like I always say when someone posts up a 9-5 Aero - I still miss mine. frown

I used Avon ZZ3s on mine too. Seemed a good tyre.
