So in summary, had to be done at/by the dealer then frown
I cant say that John. But I think from now on a walkaround before and after I leave her with ANYONE is absolutely in order. That's my top tip of the day!

Always do. I say to the dealer 'shall we acknowledge that the car is mint or shall we walk around it' smile

Top tip #2 - never let a dealer wash your car as part of the service

But that damage isn't from washing the car, that is proper damage from what I can see and may not polish out.

Had Francis over to give do a bit of detailing where some tree sap left a slight mark and give it (and the other cars) a super-clean (just starting in photo below).

Unfortunately, I left the front door open and he was drawn towards my daughter's chocolate birthday cake...

None of it will polish out Pete - its got 3 quite different types of damage and marks.

I've just had a very positive chat with the dealer. Much kudos indeed to them.

I feel a lot better smile

No guys - its going to be sorted properly in a superb bodyshop and whilst I'm away on hols. I'm very impressed as given the timings on me discovering this they could have easily said 'on your bike'. I consider that above and beyond and indicative of a lot of trust and them knowing how much this piece of aluminium means to me. smile

That must be a relief - I had a similar experience (some years ago, and not AM, I hasten to add!) and was given the 'OYB' as I had left the forecourt after a service. I felt particularly disgruntled as it was a big scratch in the middle of the passenger door, and in retrospect, felt sure it had been parked up especially so I couldn't see it. Raging, but what could I do?

I remember Big T t1blk had his front end all scuffed during a post service wash at a well known Dealer.

I won't mention the Dealer's name but he received a quick resolution a couple of years ago.

That's why we call him Big T. He's a man mountain. Even makes me look small. yes

I would like to see the dealers face when big T came marching up to him after finding the damage. I probably give him a free car! He's such a nice bloke, but he's a big b*stard lo. You wouldn't want to upset him. Even if you are as big as jockers lol

When I last had my car collected from home the driver was dropping off a Rapide S as a loan car. He told me that one car he returned to collect had lumps knocked out of it which were not there when he dropped it off. Nothing to do with me squire said the customer. Since that time I have takes four high resolution pictures around the car either on collection from home or on the forecourt if I drive to the service centre. I got the idea from the tyre and wheel insurers who want pictures including one with the number plate for processing the claim so hopefully this record would meet any insurance needs.

I'm with you there, Francis.

I also bumped into him at the launch of the Vanquish in Wilmslow. I was with M4YBO and Snuffy (now a gaylord GTR loon).

I thought then he may have shrunk a wee bit to just over 7 feet. His two lads will be even taller now !!! biggrin

Rover paperbag

Although in my defence it was back in '98 on my lovely MGF - one of the first with the uprated vvc engines.
