I was hoping I could get a steer from some experienced luxury holiday makers here.

Last year, we were at the Four Season in Mauritius, but for various reasons we can't take long flights and are restricting ourselves to a "beach" holiday in Europe in August instead. The Four Seasons was superb and we're hoping to find something equivalent within a 3 - 4 hour flight.

I was hoping for some guidance on a wonderful hotel and destination, which hopefully meets the following criteria

1. Great beach, hopefully private and with WIFI

2. Water warm enough to swim in.

3. 3 - 4 hour flight.

4. Half board would be perfect, but I appreciate that this will be difficult at the top end. It's just something we enjoyed at the Four Seasons.

We have a budget of about £2,000 per head for a 8/9 day holiday.

Europe strikes me as the obvious option, but my mind is very open

Rocca Nivaria in Tenerife will fit many of your requests. The only downfall being possibly the beach. I realise it's in your title but everything else is up to scratch about the hotel. They were building a beach the last time we were there but it was obviously volcanic (black) sand. If it's the deal breaker then avoid.

Greece?...do a search for Elounda Bay in Crete. There are a couple of great resort hotels there that would also fit your bill...

If you're on a beach holiday, why is Wifi so important on the beach?

Went into the Grecotel in Kos for the afternoon last year, very plush, half board and meets all criteria? (need to check beach wi-fi, but is private)

Just wish I wasn't at the generic 5* All in down the road, which although nice, would be beaten hands down by this!

Gale in Portugal without a doubt.

Used to go somewhere different every year until we found it now this will be out 7th year.

Best beaches on the Algarve with fantastic restaurants on the beach.

Only 20 mins from Albufeira if you want somewhere busy to visit but Gale is very quiet with no nightclubs etc.

Thank you all. Not as many suggestions as I would have hoped for, but thanks again.

Hotel (Barcelo) Formentor north of Puerto Pollensa in Mallorca, not been for many years but has private beaches and is old school nice. If you want to be nearer restaurants outside of the hotel then Hotel Il Dor in Puerto Pollensa may be better but the beach is not as private or nice.

I'll repeat what I said in the other thread...have a look at Cala Saint Vincente.
There are two 5* hotels and lovely beaches, not private mind but the area is quiet and has quite a secluded / exclusive feel to it (or at least it does to me).

Hotel Martinez, Cannes.

Eye-wateringly expensive to eat there, but food and drinks in the beach bar are a lot more reasonable. I think the ex Mr MC and myself got away with a salad and a cocktail each for £50. nuts

Depends what you mean by a greet beach I think! Best beaches in Europe are the atlantic beaches in Portugal or France but then the waters not as warm. The west coast of Italy has nice beaches...lookup Forte Dei Marmi.....nice beaches and some reassuringly expensive hotels. Can't remember the name of the hotel but it has a really nice beach club. It's also a really nice town....mostly only Italians which is a huge bonus.

We went to the Blue Palace in Crete which was really nice but not what you would call a fantastic beach.

Off to Portugal this weekend to hotel/resort called Pine Cliffs. Looks to have a great beach with a restuarant on it. We're going because it's uber kid friendly so might not be what you want.

It is expensive and pro rata that's roughly what we're paying for a week half board...we have a two bed 1,000 sq ft apartment though, which is probably what your brother has.

Combination of great stuff for the kids, generally excellent facilities and really good rooms means it's worth the money for us. Booked it through Scott Dunn who aren't cheap but they have all their own staff on site etc....reassuringly expensive!

I've got a villa in Lagos overlooking Meia Praia and the sea is too cold for me!

To be fair we always stay in villas & use the pool mostly but on the odd occasion I've ventured in the sea it's been cool but not freezing.
