Anyone had a water pump professionally rebuilt?
Discussion
I sent for a rebuild kit to rebuild the water pump on my 67 Jaguar 420.4 parts arrived, three of them did not fit each other at all, only the gasket was correct!Anyway it was suggested by the company i got the pump parts from that i send it to them, and yes, they got their £170 for 'rebuilding' it.This is what i got,i would have expected 'new' parts, impellor etc but it's chipped and has rust on it,to be brutally honest i feel i've paid £170 for a good 'used' pump that has been painted black, plus they have my old pump!Am i right to feel like i've been had?
You could have bought a recon exchange for about £80 or £90. That impeller looks OK TBH and I doubt you'll find a new one which is why normally the old one needs to be in serviceable condition.
I think I've got one of those sitting in my shed.
