Hi guys,

Recently bought my 1st Scooby, Impreza 06 WRX Station wagon (had to tell the missus it was a sensible 5 door family estate car). Bought it from Evans Halshaw Vauxhall dealership about a month ago with 3months warranty.
Recently noticed a knocking sound from the rear, sounds more like something rolling around in the boot.
Have read a few stories of this being a common problem with a rear shocker
Is it something anyone has had done via the warranty from non Subaru dealerships, and any advise if not which way to go about getting it fixed.

Cars done 45k and was bought with full MOT (don't know if this should have passed with this fault), have only done 350mile in it since I got it.

The common knocking it just that, a short knocking sound. Rolling around in the boot would be a much more dull sound. It should only really happen when coming to a halt rather than the normal compression of the damper. Under what circumstance do you hear it and can you reproduce it consistently?

If it is a dodgy shock it is a warranty item and is usually replaced. You could grease it up again but it will fail again, as will any Subaru replacement. If you can stretch to it then a replacement set of springs and dampers may be another option but I'd go down the warranty route first with it being inspected at a local Subaru specialist.

I recently bought a 57 reg WRX and soon noticed a knock from the rear. Mostly at parking speeds.

After some advise on another forum, I contacted Scoobyclinic and got new shocks for about £250 for the pair. Subaru dealers want about £700 for the pair.

Did that help with the understeer they seem to suffer from, or is it the previous owners choice of poor (1x Autogrip, 1x Vredenstien - which still have 5 mm on them so I'm too tight to change them) tyres on the rear causing mine?
