All credit to Brown however Nadal's career now looks in tatters - he's been beaten by some proper journeymen over the last 12 months. His grueling style of play over the years and countless injuries look to have finally caught up with him. Unless Dr Fuentes can come up with a magic potion for him quickly he'll probably retire sooner rather than later. He could no doubt play on for another 3 or 4 years and stay in the top 20-30 but would he really want to do that?
They said several years ago that his style of play would end his career early. He needed to alter his techniques and really the only way to do that is by changing coaches, I doubt that will ever happen as his coach is his Uncle.

He was a very talented player, however remains utterly obnoxious IMO. In a similar way to Sharapova.

Rafa has indeed been written-off before only to bounce back stronger than ever (what he did in 2013 after his long lay-off in 2012 was truly remarkable IMO). However, this time he seems to have lost his way like never before; he doesn't appear to be injured but he's making unforced errors which are totally out of character and he just seems to be lacking confidence and self belief. Really strange and a bit sad to see but he needs to snap out of it and quickly or it will become a downward spiral; can't see him ever sacking Uncle Toni but perhaps he needs to add a new face to his coaching team (as Djokovic did with Becker) to bring a fresh perspective?

This Kyrgios-Raonic match is a cracker - they are both huge servers yet we are still seeing lots of excellent rallies.

Kyrgios/Raonic is superb, discipline vs flair. The aussie has got some amazing shots in the locker, can he keep his temperament?

His outburst put me off him a bit, he was pleasently cheeky most of last year, not so much this year, he is a great player though!

Agree, if he could keep the language under control but continue playing like he was at the local park then that's great. I hope he wins, he's the total antithesis to a dull Federer et al.

Are you serious? That's like saying you'd rather watch Joey Barton than Lionel Messi.

Hmm, not sure I'd agree with that analogy- 84% first serve points won and 34 aces. Yes, perfectly serious- he's great entertainment with some terrific shots. His volleying looks weak/ lacking confidence, shot selection sometimes isn't great but he's a breath of fresh air. Won't be everyone's cup of tea I grant you.

He could have all the talent and play the most entertaining tennis but if he continues with the obnoxious outbursts I'd not want to watch him.

Meanwhile, Djokovic beat Tomic today and there was reallty important point where good old Hawkeye got called into play and said it was in for Djokovic

This is it from the back of the court

You can see the ball already cutting the line so unless it was a big lob it would not hit it. It was not a big lob.

Hawkeye gave it as this after the linesman said out

So bad old linesman

However, I got the BBC feed and did screen caps

Here you can see the ball almost over the line doing a low trajectory. It ain't never going to drop one inch in that time with the shot that was played.

It doesn't, moment of compression at the bounce

And hawkeye called that in .... laugh

The funny thing was that the commentator at the time said it was out and another said hawkeye was all supreme and was better than your eyes.

Final shot showing the bounce onwards so you can judggle it to see full flight path. Same height as the first shot over the baseline showing the trajectory

Well done British technology, I'll use my eyes thanks.

Honestly I cannot tell from those pics if it is in or out as I cannot see which one is the one where it is hitting the ground.

I've even just put my new glasses on to look more clearly smile (first time spectacle wearer!) Do you mean on the first pic the ball hasn't yet landed?

Indeed. Bit of wishful thinking on my part, got fifty notes on serena 2-0. Looking precarious. .

Ah I see smile. She still has a battle ahead but she often starts slow, though right now she is about to broken straight back, not impressed with the crowds behaviour.
