No doubt I will find out when I pick the DB9 up at the end of the week (wahoo!) but grateful for any do's and dont's (thanks to Josh for the hint to keep eye on oil levels for first few fill ups).

For instance, keep it down to <3500 rpm or xx mph or something like that?

TIA

Don't worry too much the engines are hot run at the factory. I have done 700 miles in my new V8S (Pearl). I believe it is important to vary the loads on the engine. Sitting at a constant speed for mile after mile is not running it in. Going up hills ,change down , avoid hard acceleration . When you start up , drive off don't sit with the engine idling. Most of all just love it !

Sound :-)

Snuffy, I had actually considered a "Running in please pass - if you can" sign ;-)

Also any recommendations for dash top cameras? I have Black vue 400s front and rear in my current BMW X6 M50d and was going to go up to the 500 wifi version of that (just in the front) but not sure if it would be too obtrusive sitting behind the rearview; as opposed to other cameras which could sit flat on the top of the dash.

Anyone any experience of cameras?

Took a good look at the camera thing previously. In the end I was put off by various quality reports and some teething issues with the wifi versions of the Blackvues. Plus, I'm terrible at charging my devices, so I'd have to have it hard-wired which is more hassle etc etc. I keep revisiting the subject though.....

Here you go: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=122...

Quite a comprehensive thread about cameras from late last year.

Pretty much spot on Rob. Simon ran his V12V at 4500rpm or lower for the first 1000 miles, but that's just common sense, whether needed or not. Something inside tells you it's the right thing to do...

I did indeed (not yet at the 1,000 miles though). Kept it below 4,500 for the first 500, then up to 5,500 for the next 500 and then I will unleash the dogs of war biggrin

I have to admit I gave it the full beans on one occasion when joining a motorway but then settled back to my regime rolleyes

As Rob stated, the engines are hot tested and I've been told are run at max rpm for a period on the bench before they even get into the car, so I doubt anyone could do much damage in the initial few miles. Basically my approach has been to vary the revs, not labour the engine and not even contemplate going over 4,000 rpm until the engine is fully warmed up (which I do anyway even when not running in).

Thanks for the feedback and advice.

I bought a Blackvue 500 in the end.

I will remember the dash of parfum and ever so lightly applied lip gloss when I want to drive in the rain then.

What are these for? I've never heard of these other than for making vids of track days.

I understand that they are very popular in Russia, where judging by YouTube, there is some crazy driving, and vehicles which have wheels falling off.

One bizarre incident, is where a car becomes entangled in a fallen cable. It went from forward movement, to a backward somersault in a millesecond.

Had a prang a couple of years back and the other vehicles' occupants all mysteriously developed whiplash. Took a year to come to court, where they concocted a brilliant version of events, which differed depending on which one of them was relating it once in the box (despite having both been in the same courtroom together, all morning - doh!) Suffice to say I triumphed, but what a parlava. Hence why I now drive around with one on all the time.

In 2010 a coach decided to go all of the way around a roundabout in the left hand lane, except I was occupying the middle lane and was in the process of leaving the roundabout (as per the correct road markings). I (and my Audi TT) got totally wiped out. 14 months of arguing later we ended up in court where the coach company came in represented by 5 people and proceeded to make all kinds of sh&te up. In the end I won of course but the stress and time it took to sort was ridiculous. This is why I'm considering a camera also.

I've got a forum stalker already!! :-)

Love the M50d but I just had an itch and an uncontrollable impulse - OCD at it's best!
