993 Buying Advice
Discussion
OK, Here's the situation;
I've located a nice clean 993 that meets all my requirements. It has got a full service history etc and looks and drives very well. The independent dealer selling the car showed me all the bills supplied by the previous owner. However, I was unable to locate invoices for a new clutch or for new dampers. The car has covered 90K. The clutch actually feels fine and the salesman assured me it would have been changed at sometime in the cars life.
My thoughts are that with such a big expenditure surely the last owner would have kept the invoice for a new clutch. Is it at all possible that the car is on it's original clutch?
My thoughts are that I use the price of a clutch (£850) and new dampers to negotiate the price down.
I'm going to get an independent inspection for the car and the guy who is doing this confirmed that he would expect to see a clutch invoice for a car of this age.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively, accept the fact that clutches, like ourselves are coming closer to death every day, but unlike us, your clutch can be replaced.
Don't turn away from a good car because you don't know when the clutch was replaced - you might end up buying one with a new clutch and then the engine expires!
I've found no documentaion to say my 993tt has ever had a clutch and at 38K it was not worn enough according to parr to warrant replacing while the RMS was being done.
